Is there anything left of the EL yards at Marion anymore?
Besides the yards is it still a pretty decent railfar town like it once was?

There is a remainder of the EL yard in Marion. CSX stores a couple of locos there and there are a few side tracks. Not a huge yard, but a yard nonetheless. And yes, Marion is still a great fanning town, especially with AC Tower open to the public.

Union Tank Car took over part of the shops and they use them for maintaining their lease fleet.

Marion is rather bland as a railfan spot. There are few worthwhile photo angles and the place is always packed. Definately worth checking out, especially if you're a history nut and the tower and depot interest you, but most people won't have reason to return there for a second trip.

Yes Marion is always packed. Known as the "Train-watching capital of Ohio," it has been crowded for decades. THe fences make photography difficult, unless you want to climb the tower, whcih I have done. But if you want to see trains, trains, trains, this is the place. By the way, when was that EL branch to Dayton torn up? I know it was cut back to Richwood at one point.
