Can anybody give a listing as to the new crossovers and those planned on the Met?
I know about some of the new ones and the old:
Georgetown Jct (old)
Montrose (new)
Derwood (old)
PEPCo (old) Single

Not sure of the others. Please help.

Norman;

At one time, the MARC website had information on the new crossovers. Haven't checked to see if the info is still up, however.

This comes from a friend who works for CSX: “The new interlocking at Dickerson on the Metropolitan Subdivision is now in service. Both eastbound absolute and westbound absolute signals are cantilever-type at milepost BA 35.9. Facing west, this new crossover is oriented one track to two track, the opposite of the crossover at nearby PEPCO (BA 37.0), which is oriented two track to one track. The occasion was also used for the retirement of the color position light signals at the double crossover interlocking at Buck Lodge (BA 30.0) and subsequent activation of new high-mast signals at the control point.”

This sure helps, a lot but I thought for some reason that the new crossover was at Tuscarara, not Dickerson.

So then it seems that it is:

Georgetown Jct double
Montrose double
Derwood double
Cloppers double
Buck Lodge double
Dickerson single.
PEPCo single

There is another set still to be cut-in at Tuscarora (installed, but not yet activated). The ones at Clopper are to be installed within the next month.

The next cut-in is supposed to occur with Tuscarora (currently scheduled for June), then east along the Met. The resulting layout will have universal ("double") crossovers about every 5 miles or so - the one at Dickerson was done to keep the interlocking at Pepco with the same layout (to allow the simulataneous crossover move & movement in/out of the plan) and to enable trains to cross over to #2 track at Dickerson, as well as have it function as a leaving signal for the station there.

I believe that work is also starting at CX (Carroll's) in Baltimore.

This is good information!

Does anyone know what the rated speed for the crossovers are? Are they "approach slow" or "approach medium"?

These are medium speed crossovers - so, the advance indication to cross over would be approach medium (vs. the higher, "limited" speed crossovers).

Tuscarora (the new installation) will be limited speed.
