It appears that the Union Station Second Platform will open this coming week. The TTC CEO report to the Commission Board (next meeting on Tuesday) says:
"By the date of the August Board meeting, another milestone will have been reached, namely the opening of the new second platform at Union Station. This project has presented tremendous logistical, operational and engineering challenges, but the end result is a huge leap forward for customers at one of our busiest locations. Work will now continue through to Spring 2015 to complete the refurbishment of the existing platform and to renovate and rationalize the concourse area."There is a partial closure (service St Andrew-Union suspended) this weekend to do the finishing touches, at which point work will start to switch to closing off the existing platform on one side. Travelling home at the same time a concert or hockey/baseball game lets out, it can get pretty tight on that platform.
