Anybody have an idea of what it would take to get the M&E FL-9 units ready (again) for third rail service? I know they lack shoes now, but that shouldn't be too big a problem with the number of MetroNorth units that have been scrapped, and the original shoes from these units.

With the New Haven lines of CDOT in dire straits (no spare engines, and their MU in obsolescence), maybe M&E could rent these old FL-9s out for another fling on their original turf? Pulling coach sets, or providing protect power...

I would think that even any MU shoes could be readily adapted, unless the current draw would be excessive. Mounting them should be straight-forward with a bit of framework welding.
