Join the Ohio River for a one way trip on Thursday, August 28 as we travel on Amtrak’s 233 departing New York Penn at 12:20 and arriving in Albany at 2:55. Soft drinks and light snacks will be provided. Cost: $75. Please, email [email protected] or call (973.267.4300) to reserve space.

The return trip from Albany will be your responsibility.

$75 is a very good price for a private business car trip of 141 miles and 2 hours 25 minutes along such a scenic route.

Amtrak's website says the same trip in a coach seat on train 233 that day will cost you $51. A seat in Business Class is an extra $20.

So for an extra $24 over coach fare or $4 over Business Class fare, you get to ride an open platform heavyweight business car, with beverages and snacks included. You can't bet that deal!

I assume this trip from NYP to ALB is a positioning move, prior to the car moving from ALB to Steamtown, in the consist of an Amtrak special equipment move, for the Lackawanna Rail Festival.
