18 went Westbound today by Denville around 8:25 it was hauling M&E 4 and minutes before the HO-2 went by eastbound.

The two Amtrak SW1s that were in Hudson Yard last week were at the MMC the other day.......

Did the MandE purchase the SW1s? I doubt they would be at the MMC if they were going to Naparandos!

M&E 18 going west over Newark Draw at 14:24 hrs towing two SW-1's (one in Amtrak paint, the other dark blue) and 3 tank cars.

Anyone know what's become of 7205 & 7210? They disappeared from S. Jefferson Road last Friday (I think - noticed it Monday). They're not in Whippany and if they're at Morristown they're both inside the house.

The 7205 was outside of the shop building on Wednesday afternoon. The 7210 "might" be inside. Also, SW1 738 and 742, along with three tankcars, were on the ramp track, between Staples and the shop complex.

Thanks - I saw 7205 outside this morning as well. The two SW-1s #738 Washington Terminal paint and #742 Amtrak paint were brought down to Whippany and are on 'display' next to the museum equipment on the east end of the run-around. 738 looks to be pretty good despite the older paint scheme (I didn't think anything had remained lettered for WT for many years.) 742 is rough and has the look of 'parts donor' though it's largely small and or cosmetic stuff: headlights are both gone, one or two (I forget) handrail sections missing, it appeared that the front section of the top of the hood was missing as you can see sky through a hole in the front of the hood. All perhaps minor depending on how the main mechanicals are.

The bigger question - are they M&E/affiliated companies, destined for the museum? They're old and small and 600 HP - light for Bayway. Use?

7210 was indeed parked inside sporting the same black paint scheme as 7205. Today 19 was parked outside on track one after dropping a boxcar off on the hill. 563 was parked with 7205 on track 3. A crane was operating when I was there and was lifting what appeared to be traction motors on a flat bed truck. I have no idea where 18 or 20 are.

I'd say the rust dust on the 18 looks kind of shabby, as well. Nothing worse than allowing rust to settle into the paint, on a red engine. The paint will oxidize faster than ever, killing the color........... We used to wash, AND wax the engines, when Ben was running the railroad.

I suppose that there is not much you can do about washing and waxing them. I can see how difficult it could be washing something that big must be really time consuming. Heck I would volunteer to clean them up if I was ever allowed. Oh well I will be up close to them again when the easter bunny train rolls around and I work with the museum.
