Bath & Hammondsport 44-tonners

This seems as good a place to ask as any: Can anyone tell me how the B&H 44-Tonners D-1 and D-2 were painted? I'm cnsidering a new model railroad based on the B&H. I've seen S-1 # 4 at Cohocton, but don't know if the 44-tonners had the same design as the S-1's or if they were "steam engine black".

the B&H GE's were D-1 and D-3, (D-2 was a smaller Plymouth)

They wore a black & yellow scheme..
(I doubt they ever had a different scheme while on the B&H)

D-1 still exists:
Nee Bath & Hammondsport D-1 (1949) Phase IV-b
to Dansville & Mount Morris #2
to Bay Colony 410 (1986)
to Southerrn RR of NJ 410 (1998)

sadly D-3 has been scrapped..

Thanks for the quick reply! After modeling northern New England for 30 years, this looks like it could be a nice change of pace. Since I'm now in a much smaller abode, double-headed 44-tonners are a good fit.

D-1, D-2 and D-3 wore the same black & yellow scheme from their first days on the B&H to their sale in 1970. I have a postcard of the 44 tonners doubleheading in the late 1960s and they looked exactly the same as D-1 did in her builder's picture dated 9/15/1949 in Keuka Lake Memories. The only cosmetic difference between the two 44 tonners (besides the number) was the presence of black and yellow stripes on the pilot(s) of D-3. D-1 didn't have them.

I seem to recall seeing models of these at a show in Buffalo (GATS) about ten years ago and they may also appear in the display at the Pleasant Valley Wine Company in Hammondsport.
