Yesterday on my way to work I saw that the 3006 has joined the 3000
in the shops. Didn't have time to inquire what is going on with it.
Anyone know whats up? Are they cannibalizing 3006 for parts for
the 3000, or are they starting to rebuild the 3006?

Yesterday afternoon (Thur.) the 3000/430 was parked in front of
the shops and 3006 was in the shops.
The 3000 has had a black square painted under the cab windows
with WNYP and the number 430 stenciled in the square.
Interestingly, it still has 3000 in the number boards.

You will find that the NYSW 3000 is being prepared for road testing, thus the renumbering to WNYP 430. Next week it will be load tested at Lakeville, being MU'ed to another unit to test the MU capability. When the Chief Mechanical Officer is satisfied with the load testing, it will possibly work the yard for a day or so, then work the road job to Rochester. Would expect to see the unit on the WNYP prior to cold weather.

The NYSW 3006 is being evaluated for returning to service. Inventory of required material is being taken. The unit is NOT going to be scrapped.

#430 Number boards have been changed and sides marked WNYP #430 formerly known as NYSW #3000. Was seen today parked in front of the LAL shops in Lakeville, NY
