The FRIENDS OF THE ALCO LOCOMOTIVE is sponsoring a dinner at the Shaker Ridge Country Club in Latham, NY near the Albany International Airport on April 13, 2013, The speaker will be Carl Belke who is President of the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad. Carl was once President of the D&H.
Carl will be giving a program on his career related to the ALCO Locomotives and people who worked on them in North America.
The Dinner is $ 40.00 per person with a choice of chicken, prime rib or salmon including rolls, salad,main course, with 2 vegetables, coffee and dessert. Cash bar available.Semi-formal attire is requested.

As the host for "Friends Of The ALCO Locomotive" dinner event, it went very well. We had 22 people total. We had many people who have operated ALCO's including Chris MacDermott, Robert Dingman, Vic Stevens.
The food including Prime Rib was excellent as was the restaurant service and lots of hand outs including a "official" D&H baseball cap that was in storage since the D&H days. Everyone also got a coffee mug with an ALCO steam locomotive on it as well as ALCO locomotive magnets from the LA&L.
Car Belke did a great job talking and showing pictures via power point presentation about the different experiences he had over the last 30 years with ALCO power as well as the many people he had met. He also talked about the WNY&P railroad and some of its goals for the future. That will be covered in detail in the July ALCO NOTES.
We already have had people asking about next year's dinner. Plans are to repeat this next spring with a different speaker. A great time was had by everyone.
