1900 to 1960s, if any traditional Doodlebugs were still running in active service by then)

PRR ran them between Trenton, NJ and Red Bank, NJ until May 1962. Route was Trenton - Monmouth Jct. - Manasquan - Red Bank using the (now) NEC, the Freehold and Jamesburg Agricultural RR (now Conrail CSAO Freehold Secondary truncated at Freehold; Freehold to Farmingdale OOS; Farmingdale to Manasquan removed in 1963) and the NY&LB (now NJT North Jersey Coast Line).

The Lehigh Valley operated a total of 28 gas-electric "doodlebugs" between 1923 and1952:
(not all operated that entire timeframe)

Then they operated two RDC's between 1951 and 1966:

The B&M ran one on their M&L branch--now long gone--between Lawrence, MA and Manchester, NH. Scheduled was geared to connect to mainline commuter trains at Lawrence for Boston.
