Im putting together an album of RDC and SPV pictures (BUDD only) I have tons of pictures leeched from internet but would like to have people contribute their RDC pictures with caption, so if you want to contribute send me a Message, if you see pictures that are yours already in this album please introduce yourself and Ill either take picture off or give you credit in caption. it would be a shame if these pictures over years would disapear or there would be lack of info on Budd and its products.
having worked on both the RDC and SPV's I still have a soft spot in my heart for these.

Well, I know of at least one hard cover book about the RDC:

Note: Is this album going to cover only Budd-built "DMUs" (which I guess means RDCs and SPVs?

Budd car the RDC storie by Chuck Crouse is my favorite it covers every car upto 1989 it was published by The Weekend Chief publishing po box 1676 Mineola NY 11501 (516-741-4047)

I've got tons of photos of RDC's on the E&N Railway if you're interested. I've got shots of the recently rebuilt 6135 and 6148, I've also got shots of RDC 6130, 6135 and 6148 before they were rebuilt and 6133, all on the E&N.

Thanks for the pictures. You hit two of the three sites I always wanted to see, but never got to see thanks to the fact that I was not born yet. When I was three in 1983, my Father took me down to 10th street in Ocean City to look at the abandoned track. I still wish I had ridden or seen a train in Ocean city. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the Newtown line would you?

Album of RDC and similar types

Jaap, you may have seen some photos I had submitted some months ago, in the BUDD RDC yahoo group an album caled Westrail "Prospector" which in 1970, was the "final word" on the development of the RDC, and already started to look more toward the SPV2000, with the slanted ends and al, but certainly not yet in Amfleet profile. This was Western Australia's fastest train when bult in 1970 to use berween Perth and Kalgoorlie, built in Australia but under Budd license. These railcars had to be put into service so that the new Standard Gauge line to the Indian Ocean could use the (then) new Sydney-Perth transcontinental railway. Most of Western Australia's rail system is 3'-6" gauge.

The "Prospector" (not the DRGW) was going out to be replaced by new equipment late 2003, but tech testing made things wait until now, so in the meantike we took a trip on the "lame duck" train, and came up wih the shots.

The new DMU (locally built) cars for the Pospectoe just started running on the Perth-Kalgoorlie run a few days ago, but I have not yet had the opportunity to personally see or ride them. Since our house is in an upheaval for renovations, once I can get at my photo archives, I'll look for other photos of RDC's I've made and pass them more when the opportunity comes.

Thanks for the great Ocean City shots, they bring back quite a few fond memories. As a teenager vacationing at the shore, the RDC's were my daily alarm clock. I just bought a house in OC this year, sure do wish the trains were still running. At least the station is still standing and we do have the CMSL.

Great pix as usual. Unfortunately I was unable to get down to Ocean City until this morning. I did come through Tuckahoe on my way down and was surprised to see the whole trainset still there. Any idea why they didn't go back to Rio Grande?
