They have two platforms but the section of platform that is located near where the old (burned and removed) station building was will not be open such that the east platform (mostly for northbound trains) will be shorter than when finally completed.

THis is
With respect to Berlin.

Re: Israel to open fast rail line 30 March

I did see a test car on the electrified line on Feb 19 but as you mentioned, the last I heard was a 6 month delay due to safety concerns .
Does that mean they need to conduct additional testing?
Or is it something with the new station?

The double track will include the sections that kept double tracked prior to the track removal in 1991/1992. From New Haven, approx 7 miles into North Haven were double, a few miles in Meriden, north end of Hartford to Parkville and from just north of Windsor to just south of Windsor Locks as well a...

Hartford to Newington (New Britain) had some type of third rail in the first decade of the 20th century. I think they had problems with animals being electrocuted which may explain why Connecticut does not allow third rail operation. Not sure it this ran for many years - could be just one or two yea...

Probably close. The SLE fare is just a small amount lower than proposed Hartford line. Generally, SLE is in a wealthier area and MN is in a wealthier area also. Still - MN probably has a higher cost structure but they do have the advantage of a premium fare into Manhattan. This new line will have a ...

Fares are slightly above Metro North RR fares. Also MN uses M8's which are new.
Perhaps they could reduce some by 3 to 5%.

Also, Metro North gives a 15% discount to ten trip rides. This is only 10%.
They should just base it on 0.20/mile instead.

Thanks - I saw that today.
I am assuming the signs saying only permit parking 5am-10am are wrong or need to be changed.

What is the parking situation at the various stations? I thought that it would be free parking but saw permit only m-f 5am-10am signs in Berlin and pay or permit at other times. Not sure how an occasional user can use the parking if it is only permit. ALso, not sure about weekends. Also, they seem t...

Only people who can jump will be allowed to travel to New London.

More $'s need to be spent.

What would be the shortest train length for SLE? With the heavy demand west of New Haven, can they simply run two car trains? Would it make sense to reduce the current four car SLE trains to three or two to save on wear and tear, fuel and such? Also, what needs to be done to use M8's for SLE? Testin...

Related to M8 on Harlem/electric Hudson lines, only in the reverse, Can one train be made up of mixed M7's and M8's? Can that train be run "under the wires" where power is picked up by the pantograph from the M8? If so, why would MN & CDOT order so many M8's when the M7's cost less? Al...

If boarding at GCT, take a local to Stamford and change trains. That allows a break in Stamford.
Or as someone mentioned, just buy two tickets.

The Engineer was wearing a Mets hat so he understood customer frustration. Again, it took 20 minutes before the next train would come by but they knew the problem was not going to be fixed in a short time so they had to make the decision. They also wanted to find out how many people were on board. D...

I was on 6519 on Sunday when, north of Melrose it came to a stop. Mechanical problems. Later they said air pressure problems (brakes?). Eventually, the next train came along and they got bridge plates and had the passengers from the eight car train evacuate out of the two head cars. I was in the fro...

I was on the 4:34 on Jan 1. (6544).. First time on M8. Seats seem a bit cramped when full and the ride did not seem as smooth as the M7's - perhaps it's the tracks. Some dirt starting to accumulate on the floors along the walls. Still, no crud yet on the windows. I wonder what the condition will be ...
