Re: Hartford Line CtDOT New Haven-Springfield - NHHS

I guess they must have bought the house prior to 1844.
Obviously, the claim is invalid.
The price of the home would have been influenced by the railroad.

Speeding up times can be done with existing infrastructure since money is tight. This line already has tracks that are express which are used by Amtrak and some limited stop Metro North trains.. No need to spend massive amounts of money to save a few seconds or even minutes. The New Haven line still...

Metro North already has trains that make all stops N Haven to Fairfield and stopping at the largest stations through Stamford. What may be possible - depending on the demand - is if one or two of the shopper specials can be expanded to all year. Those would cover the upper part (Bridgeport to New Ha...

As Dutch said - Milford has no need for a fourth track. Also - ever notice that the westbound platform was constructed where the fourth track used to be. It would be insane to tear down the old station and move the platform and ........... The rail line runs through a hi density area and the cost to...

I guess they are not running on either the first Friday (day) as well as Sat night=Sunday day.

My guess is since it is new, they want the day to iron out any bugs.
They restart service on the following Tuesday.

Israel rail posted the map with the line to Jerusalem from BG airport. The journey planner shows the schedule if you select a date from the end of the month. BG to Jerusalem - 24 minutes and service seems to be every half hour. 17NIS for a single ride. 32.50 for a one day unlimited (includes local t...

The other factor is safety. Better a little slow and safe than fast and not safe. Times are relatively stable over the long term. We just have more trains as well as trains that stop at more stations. People live in the suburbs so a limited between New Haven and GCT is not realistic. http://streamli...

Thanks.

This just proves that Connecticut DOT likes to waste money.

Either that or all the people making decisions are inadequate.
They could have had the second TVM at the other stations (like Berlin) installed in Windsor until more TVM's are available.

Why are they building a low level platform in Windsor? Wouldn't it make sense to build a short high level one until funding (which may or may not come) arrives? It seems a waste of money to do what they did. Just build a one car hi level platform. Also, when the Hartford line launched, CDOT said tha...

What is the track and electric like at BG airport?
I only went once to the airport station and it was at night so I could not tell about where the turnouts are and such.

This related to three different operators with different union contracts. Would it be less expensive to consolidate? Also - which operator is the lowest cost? Would it make sense to have the low cost operator eventually take over the other two lines? Could Connecticut attempt to try to get the branc...

Related to restoring a second track as a temporary solution, the Hartford rail viaduct was reported to be in such bad shape that they don't think it could take the weight of more than one train. Overall - south of Hartford, the work they did was excellent. It's just that they have old rail cars. The...

My thoughts about the Hartford line. Equipment: As many on this board have said, the equipment is terrible and would actually turn people off from using the train (except if it was a regular Amtrak train). Connecticut claims they are broke but I seem to pay more and more income/sales tax so I don't ...

Just saying - wouldn't widening a lane on 84 and having express bus service be cheaper than resurrecting a rail line?

The problem is money. I thought that the US would invest in infrastructure.
The lane widening would actually need to be in NY state.

What would the cost be for: 1) Add a second lane to the 684 to 84 east ramp and a third lane to the CT state line from 684 on Rt 84 or... 2) Upgrade with a sharp U turn the east west line, for diesel service from Southeast? For appropriate class for passenger (Class IV or III?) - a) Add a second tra...
