drive by Check yesterday (April, 18 and 19) not much happened other then getting the empties and spotting loads, one of the B-23's was out side beside the engine house, the 1750 was outside in front of the engine house and on Tuesday the front door was open and the 17 was sitting on he other side of...
Any Idea why it I in the engine house then? it was way out of the way were it was.
where are they loading these cars?
Lee,
It depends on work in Worcester, sometimes they have to run down the Norwich branch to work a customer before heading North, but the last time I was listening they headed up around 11 am
My understanding from conversations with other on other boards that the reason the 582 never got painted was because of needs for the engine, and the availability of crews in the paint shop to work on the engine. it takes at least 6 weeks to prep and paint, and the P&W has not had the time (last...
A check (drive by on the way home from work) showed the Number 17 sitting out on the working track, by the engine house where the active unit is normally parked over night. Not sure, but if I where a betting man I would say this unit is back in service. will check back next Monday.
Yes they do. Cars are brought up by the CSX night job out of Middleboro. (sorry can not remember the train symbol). the Fore River job normally goes out to Braintree around 11 am if there is cars headed out. they service the plant M-F. the plant will move the empties out to the crossing to the boats...
Update, A check of the area on Monday (mar 14) the Pink engine (17) was not outside the front of the engine house as it was the week before, one of the B23-7's was out in front on the stub track and the other B23-7 was on the track beside the engine house. the Caboose (normally stored inside the hou...
FYI, Drove past the Fore River RR last Monday and the "Pink Engine" Has been moved from where its been sitting for may years to the front of the engine house on the Stub track. Not sure why, could not see too much as I was driving by and caught off guard by its presence, when I came back b...
Another Problem with saving one of thee is cost. Most of the museums in the area, Fall River, comes to mind, doesn't have the money to buy one, never mind getting it to the museum. the Cost of moving it alone would be prohibitive for a small museum even if it was donated at no cost. The days of gett...
Per the USCG the bridge is in danger of falling in and causing problems tie Navigation. they (CG ) have told he city it needs to come down now not alter. the city has been dragging its feet, while it decides what to do because of its historical nature. expect something to be done in the next month o...
Everyone forgets the RR land grabbing by the state was done under the last administration, the one now in office is facing another 50 million dollar short fall before the end of the Fiscal year. don't look for any money to be ponied up for rail trails etc for a while. as an example look at the Green...
if it is Yellow then it was one of the Florida East coast engines....
Saw pictures on line this week on FB showing the tracks all gone on the Needham end of the branch around Fisher st and Charles River st. one of the pictures was looking up past the old station between fisher st and Charles river st, as far as I could see the track where gone headed toward Junction. ...
