CSX Transportation is a partner with Ecotrans, thus the unit carries a CSXT Environmental tag indicating it meets the FRA Tier 0 emissions requirements for locomotives manufactured before January 1, 2002. That photo was taken last year. The last two NS Dash 9-40CW units in primer (9894 & 9962) were both painted on November 29, 2006. The last ES40DC in primer was painted in March of this year.

An update. These units are being gathered and stored at Conway, PA. However, so far units 58 and 59 have remained in active service working the yard in Bellevue, Ohio. The NS C39-8's are definitely on borrowed time and are being retired as failures occur.
