I know with the Cascades units, they had problems with them since WSDOT got them...I think one of them caught on fire in 1997?

On my very first Amtrak ride in the infamous Turboliner in 1989, I remember that windows well as we waited in line to get tickets for our return to SDY.

My understanding is that Amtrak now uses VPN connections over internet to their back office.

A few Amtrak employees have told that "bad ordered employees" generally get straightened out pretty quick by both Amtrak and the union...one of the Cascades conductors told me its probably one of the most fairest systems in dealing with HR issues he's seen.

Only deal changer I could see with a BBD getting the order would that they would be built in Plattsburgh, so it supports the state economy verses Siemens getting it and building it in California.

Here's a thought....

Could proper ventilation systems be installed at a lower cost than dealing with 3rd rail? from my understanding, you just need to have vent ducts placed at sections where a diesel locomotive would idle.

The ye old Port Authority I think wouldn't want it...

However, perhaps a "PSNY Operating Company" might a smart idea where Amtrak, MTA, and NJ Transit all have interest.
