I just purchased the book ‘Speedway to Sunshine’ about the Florida East Coast Ry. In looking at the photos prior to reading the book, I noticed a picture on page 210 showing two passenger cars coupled together. They are both in the Illinois Central brown and orange paint scheme, one has a small ‘NYC...

I'm interested in all passenger trains that ran in the 1940s & 1950s, especially the consists. I have been looking for information on I.C. passenger train consists and found some things I'd like to get more details on. It looks like the 'City of Miami' was all coach, which surprises me since the...

Mr. Weaver - I couldn't locate a copy of Speedway to Sunshine locally - in South Texas - so I ordered a copy through Amazon.com this weekend. Thanks again for the lead, I look forward to receiving my copy and reading it.

I had looked for books on early FEC, but didn't find much, at least not this book. Now I know why, FEC isn't in the title! I'll look for the book this weekend. Thank you very much.

Although I don't see NYC or the herald in this photo, I believe this is a railroad-owned rail detector car set. I took a photo of one exactly like it on the Burlington MANY years ago, and it had the Burlington Route emblem on it.

Hello - I live in San Antonio, Texas, so have very little first-hand knowledge of FEC, especially it's steam days. I'm reading a book about the three passenger trains that ran from Chicago to Miami, the 'City of Miami,' the 'South Wind,' and the 'Dixie Flagler,' each over a different route. I unders...

I recently was given a NYC employee timetable titled, "Grand Central Terminal - Electric Division - New York Terminal District." It also says "Time-Table No. 52" and is dated Sunday, Sept. 29, 1940. In looking through it so far, and I haven't had time to read it in detail yet, I ...

Here's a link to a Web site that contains infomation on all the Chicago passenger stations prior to Amtrak: http://hometown.aol.com/chirailfan/staroute.html . Once on the site, click on one of the links below 'Central Station' and it will take you to either the routings or schedule specific to that ...

Thank you Coalmine - I really appreciate the train names. I wonder where I got 'Corn King' from???

I'm trying to remember the name of the Peoria & Eastern passenger train that ran between Peoria and Indianapolis. The 'Corn King' seems to come to mind, but I can find nothing to confirm this! When I was quite small I used to accompany my Dad on Sunday's to the O gauge club layout he and his bud...

Thanks for the movie review. I watch TCM most evenings; however, I didn't check the schedule for that hour of the morning! I'll definately keep an eye out for "Odds Against Tomorrow," hopefully, at a more reasonable hour.

I have quite a few LL H.O. engines, both Proto 1000 and 2000. There have been small problems with both sub-brands. Parts fall off and must be glued on. One did not run at all out of the box, LL replaced it as soon as I wrote them about it. My BIG complaint is the couplers! If they aren't already bro...

I, like Chewie8han, created a Microsoft Access database for my H.O. model inventory. However, Access is expensive and creating the database required the help of our office computer guy! The database has been in use by me for about five years and I like it very much. I have only used it for freight c...

I saw the ad in Railfan and immediately ordered a copy of each Volume. Haven't received them yet, but as with anything NYC, I look forward to getting them. Now that you've seen them and are impressed - I hope my copies will show up this week in the mail. Thanks.
