As far as I can see in specifications, they will NOT get dual purpose third rail shoes. Seems silly that going forward they wouldn't strive for uniformity with flippable shoes. Yeah the M7's would keep the MNR shoes, but you'd think they'd get a volume discount with M8s and M9's (and whatever repla...

Lower level has no trains on weekends, although they don't lock the doors to the tracks, if you walk around the lower tracks on a weekend you will be stopped and told to leave. No. I've taken plenty of trains to Southeast that originate from the lower level on Saturday nights, and this was not in t...

A.) Isn't it up to Fordham to pony up the money to the MTA for signage pointing to the school? Of course if one knows the Fordham campus abuts the MNR station, there *is* signage vaguely guiding you there... "Metro North 8 blocks east" but I know that's not what the writer is complaining a...

I hear there is *supposed* to be an interlocking put in between Fordham & Botanical Garden, which when built will allow more upper NHL trains to make Fordham. When that will come to fruition, who knows...I also was told it's not a big priority right now. Until then you get to do the Stamford tra...

Good riddance...4 months later it's still a huge charade...although some of that can't be blamed on the railroad. I routinely watch the SAME people act all confused on a weekly basis about the transfer. Although it's nice to not have to worry about them playing musical tracks at Bridgeport for the t...

The P40's are for SLE service and only one SLE set makes trip on waterbury only cause same crew runs that set to stamford and runs revenue rush hour train for SLE. MN does not normally run SLE sets in MN services. Hey, don't shoot the messenger, just because I shed light on a rumor being spread doe...

Don't need to go behind the Re-Am's paywall to guess that a ranting Jim Cameron is going to be the only thing people get to read about in the follow-up story. Different Jimbo, more competent commentary. I might attend the meeting, but I have some personal things that will take precedence if necessa...

Re: Why is Boston-NY service so spotty?

Unless I'm completely insane, I'm pretty sure PECK was redone about 20 (give or take) years ago.

Why is SAGA not on your list? That needs replacing too.

It's not even lax parking in Waterbury that's the issue, they took out the old dilapidated building blocking 75% of the lot from view of the street and you can now park in that area except in the winter when they're too cheap to clear the snow - I would feel a lot better about leaving my brand new c...

As much as I have a soft spot for that boring for good old Torrington, service restoration there should be lower on the totem pole than the oft talked about Danbury Electrification® What needs to happen in Torrington is respectable bus service and get people to Waterbury to use existing services if ...

Attached is a PDF of the article Jeff mentioned, which was emailed to me by Jim Gildea, the guy who has spearheaded the meetings about service, etc. on the branch.

I think the CDOT P40s are going to Frontier Industrial for scrapping, the existing CDOT units are too run down. Says who? Why would they buy four units to replace EIGHT? M8's on Shore Line East are still nowhere near a reality, and they have new service coming on line in a shade over a year with NH...

Sorry, I live in Connecticut, the land of doing everything half-assed ;)

You can't use CDOT's patch job P40s as a barometer to judge Amtrak's 42's. Anything the state of Connecticut's DOT touches turns into a giant turd. Yes, they were beaten to death by Amtrak on the Autotrain for 15 years first, but continued lack of maintenance is not helping. Sure, some of Metro-Nort...

My best shots of the charade...I mean parade ;)
(Considering it was pouring towards the end, not a bad showing at all.)
