Budd wrote above: [[ Leaving time is leaving time and that's permission to go. ]] Nope, that aint the way it works. At least not for all the years I worked in and out of NY Penn on Amtrak. The conductor didn't close up and leave until he/she "got the gate" -- the signal from the usher or ...

And why would the crew be investigated ??? Leaving time is leaving time and that's permission to go. Despite what is said at work, there is nothing in writing that states a train crew must wait for the "gate" from the ushers. If someone needs be investigated wouldn't it be the gate ushers ...

I believe all the motors on the property so far has had the software updates and the mods that Amtrak wanted thus far and they have seen an increase in reliability as a result so after an acceptance test, there should be no reason for them to not enter service.

The time you gave should've been a clue. 89 leaves nyp at 6:15am so you saw 79 coming out of SSYD

These new motors can handle the freight brake. AEM7s are not set up to handle the freight brake(direct release) and are only allowed to pull a train set up in direct release in an emergency. The circus train isn't considered an emergency. I'm glad you're optimistic about LD trains being 18 cars agai...

Actually lots of progress. The test that was being performed when the 611 went east to Boston was deemed a success. The other units will get the software upgrades and I believe the 600 or 601 will be headed up to Boston on the 172 I Believe on Monday or sometime early next week. That was word around...

I see that the 615 was picked up from the plant and will probably be on Thursday or Fridays train 6. Guess expect it here late next week ?

I ran the 654 yesterday and she ran like a champ. Although I'm not the biggest fan of these motors,if they run great, I'm a happy hogger

Dutch, you're preaching to the choir. I don't really care for jokes and I understand how it's laid out in terms of ownership and operation. Not an idiot dude but because you think I'm talking about your former employer you're going on the defense which isn't the case. Regardless of who owns and pays...

In Norwalk that would be a CDOT switch, MN stops at Port Chesters state line, from State Line to New Haven is contract operation with ownership and funding by CDOT. Ok and? Metro North controls the territory and does the work to track, switches etc not Cdot. When the derailment happened last year n...

I find it interesting that the OP stated they lost 10 mins outside of NYP but when I checked the status of the train , it departed New Rochelle at 3 minutes late. There is no extra time in the schedule. Also there was switch failure on Metro North at Norwalk so the train had to reverse all the way t...

I have no idea what's going on but I doubt very much the last thing on the conductors mind is to make an announcement or tend to everyone beck and call as they are trying to make a reverse move since they are now the eyes for the engineer. I'd wager a bet that the storms have a hand in all this.

Regardless if the new HSP locomotives can fit into the CCCT, it's a mootless point since diesels aren't allowed to run in the tunnel in regular service since there's no exhaust and ventalation system. Work trains are allowed thru but that's only if the route is lined up and no stopping and if stoppi...
