When EHH ascended the throne at CN and after reading an in depth report on CN freight rates a quote attributed to him may shed some light on the old fox and his inner thinking...... " You know we can make twice the money hauling half the freight here."

Sorry I forgot this thread was about the poor fellow that lost his arm. This is sad to hear and is a reminder to all of us the RR is a dangerous environment. To shed some light on this subject many many years ago had a good friend of mine riding a 30 car cut on a setoff saw a mis aligned switch at n...

In this modern era most all of the mile posts ,whistle boards and speed limit/restriction signs are highly reflectorized. so even in the densest fog or blizzard the engineer will get a brief glimpse of these cues. Also the engineer is qualified on physical characteristics which encompass location of...

Just read the Railway Age article and EHH's response to it. One thing can be said about the great helmsman he sure knows how to shoot a hornets nest down the pants of any railroad he gets hold of. Single tracking the Albany-Cleveland main line may workout but Amtrak, NYS DOT and the politicians will...

Basically the pols in Trenton, Albany and D.C. have been financially starving the railroads, under their control, for years. The commuter agency and Amtrak railroaders in the unions and management have warned them many many times about this tack and were told to do your best. Now that the infrastruc...

Several things are occurring at the same time adding to the summer of hell commute. Many Hoboken div jobs were changed due to the termination of Mid town direct service at Hoboken. Union rules allow an engineer whose job has been changed to hold off 48 hours til the dust settles when 50 or 60 jobs a...

Over on You Tube Maine Train Chaser has been videoing Job 1 / 2 this week, good size trains, with the BAR heritage unit on the point one trip west. He said Job 1/2 are running 5 days a week now on a Tues - Sat schedule although some weeks they will skip a day. One thing quite noticeable is the welde...

I agree. Mr.Giles and his team and I am sure most CMQ employees realized they were going to get one shot at reanimating what was essentially a streak of rust after the Megantic disaster. I find this story riveting as we watch the CMQ claw its way back to viability.

Yes, that Sherbrook sub is definitely a black hole as for as operations are concerned. Maine Train Chaser has quite a few very recent chases of Job 1/2 over the Moosehead on You Tube if anyone is interested. Thanks for the info Smitty.

Where does Job 1 originate ? Also does the crew make it all the way to Farnham or do they change crews in Megantic? The reason I say Megantic, the ill fated Oil train that blew up the town apparently shut down for the night west of town and was supposed to swap with the American crew's westbound emp...

This engineer will be tied up in lawsuits for many years and more than likely left bankrupt. In my opinion Mr. Bostian did not set out to intentionally wreck his train hence a manslaughter charge is way off base. This accident is a simple case of human error. However if this ever gets to a trial stag...

Yep EHH is the new boss of CSX. I just loaded up on some more stock. I wish EHH well and hopefully he can work his magic at CSX.

BTW with EHH's son in law Keith Creel at the helm of CP and Father in law EHH ensconced on the CSX throne perhaps a CP - CSX merger is in the cards down the road ?
