On that film of that run, the first two cars appeared to be loaded centerbeam flatcars, the loads wrapped. Where did they originate? Not the Island, I would think.

I remember a snow blower named Thunderbolt was kept at the Hicksville Yard back in the Eighties. Francis Gabreski flew the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt during his time as a member of the USAAF in the E.T.O. during World War II.
Too bad. CP Rail will probably be back if CSX screws them.
Speaking of the L.I.C. team yard, according to the GoogleEarth view from this past June, that relic boxcar that was spotted at the end of one of the spurs is apparently gone. When did the NYA (or LIRR) remove it? What had it been used for? Also, the same view showed a cut of black tankcars on the no...
The 182 looks great in this picture & the other recent ones. When was she shopped? Just new paint, or did she get mechanical & electrical work done too?
Is the bio-diesel customer still viable? How often is it switched, and is it a day time or night time train that does the job? Thanks.
Might the LIRR part with another SW-1001 or a pair of MP-15ac's for use out east at the Brookhaven and Calverton spurs when they become operational and a need is found to have more power available?
Passed by Medford yesterday. Nothing spotted on the team track, but lots of rail stacked up off to the side of the loading dock area. Any projects planned for that rail, or does the LIRR just leave rail stockpiled here & there for repairs? Thanks.
A few team tracks for off-line customers would be a good idea.
Is it possible that the spur could be lengthened, have additional branches added to reach other parts of the area, or have spurs added to the existing spur as needed if business takes off? I take it it's not set in stone that only the existing spur can be used and not added to.
Yesterday (Saturday) or today?
You'd think LPG traffic out that way would pick up now....I'm sure many of those houses out there use propane in one way or another.
A badly-tagged up 155 & 159 westbound through Queens Village this afternoon around 1545 with 10-12 hoppers, mostly JOGX. Were these the hoppers used to lay ballast out east at Calverton? Thanks.
That looks pretty cool. If it gets done, it'll keep NYA busy.
There's a Greenlawn topic on the New York & Atlantic Forum.
