I don't remember reading that. You stated, that these two cars ( and this thread is not solely about 5179/5180) are still on MN property, are awaiting conversion to inspection cars, and that the thought of them entering revenue service on the EOH was never considering due to the amount of money it w...

If you read carefully, these are not the same questions regarding 5009/5010. I asked about the current status of those two particular cars and what their current plans on for them. I didn't ask that here.

Hey everyone, I've read in the past on here and have seen some photos of the Comet IA/II/IIA/III and Shorelines that operated on Metro-North's West-of-Hudson service and had some questions. I was hoping to have this as a centralized topic of this equipment as there are some scattered threads on here...

Interesting, in the last photo it appears that they have at least started some of the transformation project on one of these cars. Is there any reason why this project has been delayed for 8 years now?

Did they ever consider using these in passenger use like they did with the WOH Comet II's they brought over to EOH?

Hey everyone. I was searching through the forum and didn't see anything of recent regarding the two Comet III's cab cars Metro-North purchased (or reacquired?) from NJ Transit, 5009 and 5010. The last photos I found of them date to 10/2008 at the Croton Shops. These were the only two Comet III's eve...

Hey guys, I was watching old footage from back when NYSW ran excursions on NJ Transit ROW. I remember years ago when the had the trips in Dunellen and I think Lincoln Park was another. My question is what was the purpose or benefit from NYSW doing this excursions on NJ Transit and how were these exc...

I was recently looking at the map and some of the areas on the deteriorating CSX Northern Branch. Seeing where these tracks lead through and how it at one time was a passenger line, was there ever a proposal for NJT to run commuter operations on this line at anytime (not light rail like the most rec...

I don't want to go too far off topic, but I noticed that caboose is the same one that is in Pompton Lakes. Any idea when it was moved to Pompton? Great photos Whippany. If there is anymore that you could share I, that would be great.

Didn't one of the RS-1s have an experimental green trim to the silver paint?

Thanks so much for the responses, excellent information. Are there any other resources besides Historic Aerials where I can find coverage on either the construction of 287 in Franklin Lakes or the reconstruction of the NYSW line beyond Butler and in Franklin Lakes? I have not been able to come up wi...

Thanks I will take a look at that. Do you know what year the started construction on relocating that portion of the line? Any idea from which points lies the relocated track?

Hello, I was hoping someone on here could provide me with some information regarding the NYS&W and when I-287 was built. Did they relocate the line that ran through Franklin Avenue? I found a photo taken in 1988 that suggests that the line may have been relocated in order to build the highway. I...

Well some of the trip is on NS trackage, so the need for the NS engine. Personally I would've liked the NS engine to be the 2100 (sw1001). But oh well. :) It also would've been nice for the M&E engine to be the #20. (sw1500) (Yes a switcher led consist would be cool) And then yes a CNJ geep cou...

This is just a thought and only a thought. When the NJT F40s get retired, does anyone think that the M&E will get at least one? Maybe not for running but for display, but it'd be cool to pull some Comet 1s again in Morristown & Erie colors :) I cannot imagine that. They had two already and ...
