MNR crews only provide flag protection WOH.

I was surprised when I heard this, but yeah it’s true, the FL-9s live on!

I remember there being talk about MNRR requiring a second crew member to be on the head end to prevent something like this from happening (was that implemented?). In this case, there were 2 crewmen in the cab. Yes, MNR did implement this for a short time, a week or so, until the signal system was u...

The media outlets are almost unwatchable with their coverage. Hearing from some sources that the speed over the bridge was 30 mph, after a 79 mph straightaway, initial reports are train was doing 81 mph.

I've heard that the turnaround loop at GCT canbe used conveniently to turn some trains. but how would they turn a train at the outlying terminal? Danbury has a full loop, Mott Haven has a wye, as is Naugatuck Junction east of Stratford and possibly consists could be turned at NHV as well. Danbury d...

Conductors can often tell when someone is using someone else's monthly. Question is, is it worth the hassle? Also people share monthlies, even when sitting next to each other on the same train. I've caught people doing that. I've had some people that I recognized that dressed according to one gender...

There are some people that no longer identify as male or female, so MNR had to adjust its policies to reflect this. I'm sure the dozens of weekly lawsuits MNR was threatened with regarding discrimination also pushed their hand to bring about this change. For a time it was the #1 customer complaint t...

Friend of mine says the Facebook railfan pages are pretty happening right now. I don't have Facebook, so I wouldn't know.

ASI uses GPS for location information. While there have been problems related to GPS outages in the past, most problems are due to the ASI system simply freezing and not catching up properly to itself. Cues such as doors opening and train movement, signal certain actions by the ASI system. Sometimes...

I find it hard to believe that and unusual third rail design is the reason for the accident as is being reported by news outlets. It might be a contributing factor to the number of casualties, but certainly not the cause. I think that cause is the vehicle being on the tracks when the train went thro...

Just saw the first Amtrak train going into GCT. The P42 (didn't see the eng number) was leading and the P32 (711) was trailing. The shoes were down and running on the 3rd rail in the P32.

Did MNR OK Amtrak into the entirety of the upper level, or are they going to be restricted to a couple tracks? As last I heard, Amtrak will be restricted to tracks 38(if consist is not double ended and needed to be looped) and 15. No Amtrak movements on the lower level. Amtrak crews only qualified ...

I believe the only times that diesels run through WP are during the rush hours...someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong 943 is the only off-peak diesel that runs through White Plains on the weekday. There are also a couple of them on weekends going in. I think only 1 going out in the afternoo...
