New freight track east of Pine Aire

Has anyone heard about the east end of Pine Aire being extended (I know they just installed a brand new interlocking hut, but...) Or perhaps there might be plans for a DEF track east of there? Between Brentwood Station and 111?

Just curious, thanks.

The Agency plans to use only Reduced Aspect Signals going forward. Sad.

I always believed that when the wayside signal displayed Approach Medium the track contained the MAS code up to a code change point farther along in the block, where it dropped to 30. Was that the case, and is it still? LIRR liked to put code change points in mid-block, to keep the trains moving fa...

Can't answer the why part but my 1954 rule book says the cab signals would display 281, 282, 285, and 290 with "aspects, indications and names the same as for fixed signals shown in these rules" From here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse_code_cab_signaling : 282 in the cab was speed con...

I like 409 as well; heck I like position lights for that matter. I think once LIRR went to Color Light that was the right way to go - the underlying signal rules did not change and it lined up almost exactly with Zone A. If they were going to change to RAS, it should have been done *instead* of goin...

This is the fruit of the political environment that government ownership and political patronage brings to the system. An idea comes to the table, maybe from India, maybe from a consultant who never did railroad work before. Rerhaps from some guy who ran subways. It's adopted and installed in a new...

Thanks workextra! LIRRs traditional signals (PRR PL/ Color lights) are based off the speed signaling logic. Most aspects gives 2 prices of information to the engineer. 1) condition of the block 2) speed to do at that signal or at the next signal Agree. The cab signaling enforces those speeds. LIRR e...

OK so I have a question for the transportation crowd: The Newsday article says that the additional speed information conveyed by the older signal aspects adds a margin of safety which is lost with the Reduced Aspect system. They don't go into specifics. So I'm curious what the extra margin actually ...

Today 11:50 A.M. 2/19/19 RS70 eastbound at YA with 271 7 cars and 270 headed to Riverhead. Saw them tied up in LD siding to meet No.250. They must have already worked Paraco, since they high tailed it west. They still had a center beam full of lumber, but I don't know where they spotted that... May...

Why does Jamaica ash east of Westbury still have a switch? I have not seen a car or any signs of use in years and I am surprised the switch has not been pulled. Anyone know when they last had service? The switch is there, with very little track existing beyond. Consensus is that it will probably go...
