All the product out of Dover that is shipped by rail goes west over CP, as does the product out of Jackman. The Enfield site is a seperate site to the other two.
They truck the product from Dover to Brownville Junction, and load it on the old log track in the yard there.

At least one C40 made it all the way to Keag (technically there are no six axle restrictions anywhere on the mainline). I don't believe any of the B40s have made it east of Old Town yet. C40s and other six axles are technically prohibited from leaving the mainline east of Waterville (although this i...
The bridge needs some work... they had a derailment two winters ago, or something like that where the truck off an empty slurry tank car took out one of the stringers, and they sort of patched it back together, but it's not by any means a proper fix.
2005 was scrapped a few years ago. The 9017 is presumably at St. Luc.
For what it's worth, the 507 no longer displays GATX owned on the side. Also there's a small E.L. 88 decal added below the American flag on the side of the cab, no one seems to know what that's about.
Yes, it's the 507, and yes it has been repainted into GRS paint. As for why, who knows, especially since there are still a bunch running around in that scheme.
I mean, that's basically what it is right now, with 25 mph being on the better side of spectrum for a decent amount of it. Having worked there, I can tell you that a good deal of the traffic that Pan Am gets is either because they're the only railroad where the traffic is going, and there aren't any...
RIght - you'd think if NS cared that much about PAS, they'd have pressured ST to maintain track speeds of 40 to start with. Those lasted a couple years before slipping back to 25 (which at least they're somewhat decent about maintaining that, usually 10s get bumped back up relatively quickly). The f...
Yes, there was previously a spur there for a stud mill (one of several that used to be up that way). The old Howland Branch used to come off on the other side of the street as well.
No portion of the line is "out of service". They're just not currently operating any revenue trains over the trackage between Keag and Old Town.
It was just a deadhead move from Wtvl to Rigby.
Pan Am has never formally requested to abandon the line to Keag. As far as trading in the old rail on those three lines for new welded rail, I doubt they would get much in return for it, otherwise Pan Am would have been more proactive in removing rail from other areas in exchange for newer rail (for...
