Andy & Jhn, thank you very much for the detailed replies, this helps a lot, and along with some other info I've received it clarifies the picture quite a bit. The April 1983 Conrail map was helpful as well. I've been exploring the area more this year than before and have written some web pages s...

To follow up, here are two resources I've been using which you may find helpful. The first is a .kmz file. For this one you must have Google Earth installed, then open the file from within Google Earth when it's running: Get the file here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!msg/gec-...

Abandonment dates of Wilkes-Barre area lines

I've been studying the Wilkes-Barre area railroad lines in Fallen Flag days, and have been piecing together where the old lines ran and so far came up with this map, representing the lines in the early 50's. So far, if there were any additional lines still existing to collieries/breakers I haven't a...

The tracks end in Wilkesboro just short of the station, which is still standing, and a few of the crossings are paved over. Just east of the city is a very long and very old former Lowes warehouse once served by the railroad (on River Road/Liberty Grove Church Rd), the tracks through there are overg...

Here's a photo I took of the old station (already empty at the time) on July 22, 1970 (facing south):

Here's a video I ran across last week, it was posted on Youtube in September, 22 minutes long and I thoroughly enjoyed this.
I looked through all the posts here, and didn't see that anyone else had mentioned this:

Among many of the rail lines carrying passengers in the early 20's, interurbans still were a big factor. Many of these were listed in the Official Guide as well. After 1920, many of these saw their demise at a much more rapid pace than the mainline railroads, although the explosion of automobile own...

The line from Pittston to Lehighton is still used daily by the Reading & Northern, there are some CP freights using the line as well. I drove through that areas and took these pictures a couple years ago (incl. the White Haven tunnel): http://viewoftheblue.com/photography/wbrail.html Also, here ...

Yes, I got it working the other day. I've played with it before under Windows, but this time I got it working under Linux. Ubuntu has it in their software "store", for free. It comes with the UK route. The only problem is, most of the subway lines use .exe files to install the routes and t...

Quick question, is Open BVE compatible with the subway lines? I think I played around with them a lot on the original BVE, and got them from a Swedish site. I'm going to have to check it out.
It runs on Linux too now, doesn't it?

Here's a good site with a lot of info for starters:

There are programs to extract the video files from youtube, then people can edit and re-encode them, so it's not safe at all. You can even use software to make a DVD compilation, if you get familiar enough with some of the programs out there.
