In the 1980s and 1990s, CP Rail was moving aggressively forward with system investment through acquisitions of other railroads. Examples of these were the purchase of the eastern end of the Milwaukee Road in the mid 1980s and then the Delaware & Hudson in the early 1990s. Why did CP management s...

The MM&A line across Maine does not have a lot of port-bound traffic on it. Most ocean-going containers east of Montreal are on CN's line to the north. Would MM&A across Maine benefit from ocean bound containers or no? If CP had access to the Port of Halifax, would they have divested their l...

Prince Rupert is served only by CN. However, Canada has the Port of Vancouver served by both Canadian railroads. Would Halifax be better served with two railroads or leave it with just one?

Who are the potential buyers that have looked at the property recently? One of the big issues with railroads in the Maritimes, and the MM&A's line is the fact that the Port of Halifax only has Canadian National as its only railhead, with CN setting all of the rates. Shippers through ports want c...

Would Irving be interested in purchasing the rest of the MM&A system?

Does anyone know how much rail ST put in east of Royal Jct? Is it all installed now? Have speeds been upgraded as a result of the new rail? Will there be more rail coming next year?

There is a rail train around Lowell today. Does anyone know where the latest batch of rail was dropped? is this track for the Downeaster related projects or the MBTA?

In what order were the lines built between Council Bluffs and Chicago. Wasn't RI first, then came which railroad after that? Why did MILW build to Council Bluffs? Weren't they looking at St. Paul as their big market. MILW had two other lines, one in Southern Minnesota and the other in Northern Iowa ...

What would have happened if UP had successfully merged with CRI&P? Where would the C&NW had gone? Would the UP had also looked at Missouri Pacific? Could MP assemble their own western merger to include both MILW and C&NW? Where would the SP connection at Tucumcari, NM be today? Would UP ...

On a recent visit to Groveton, there was 115lb. welded rail dropped along the main line. Is this rail financed by SLR or is this stimulus? Is SLR's objective to get Amtrak over the line from Portland to Montreal? The SLR along the northern portion of the line between North Stratford and the Canadian...
