Oh, ok I wasn't sure about that
Yeah, that'd be nice to see that become reality. I don't know who'd pay for this project though. That would give Corman some business.
Are you sure about that? I thought they used the Buffalo Line
Did anyone check out the Bel-Del excursions yet? They are having a railfan event sometime in June, might be worth going to.
When was the CNJ Main line abandoned east of Bethlehem? Was this after CNJ pulled out of PA.? Or did they abandon it when the CNJ and the Valley consolidated trackage in the Lehigh Valley???
What are your favorite spots to railfan in the Allentown area?
Bethlehem? Allentown Yard? I'd have to say my favorite spot would actually be Bethlehem to Alburtis,Pa. Lots of good photo shoots! :D
Oh, I thought the track was still there. I guess they finally ripped it up now. Was this Corman's trackage or NS?
Well....yes it was still in Santa Fe warbonnet. I called it BNSF because that's what it is now. :D
On Saturday, NS train 30T had a BNSF DASH 9 636 spliced between CN SD60F 5537 and a CN SD40-2. Seen outlawed at WK.
Does anyone know for sure if it was standard practice to double the hill on Summit grade approaching Benders Junction? Or did they just do this for extremly heavy trains???
You are correct in the routing. Loaded Portland coal trins are symbol 508 and empties are 509 . Generally anywhere from 80-130 cars. NS accesses ConAgra from a spur off Martins Creek Yard. They service ConAgra almost daily, averaging about 80 covered hoppers and a few boxcars a week.
Recently (maybe old news to some) the former S.I.H. plant in Uhlers,Pa. has begun to ship by rail again. I believe it is now Strobber-Haddonfield. NS started delivering to them again around April. They currently recieve about two-three centerbeams of wood a week.
Wow! Thanks for the historical information once again. :D
Yeah, the PP&L Martins Creek Plant is converting to naturaln gas in 2-3 years. They currently get about one or two trains a week. I'm not sure if Portland Plant is converting to gas though.
Heads up! There's an ex U.S. ARMY Davenport center-cab diesel that works at the National Cement plant in Broadhead (outside of Bethlehem),Pa. It's #1634. Can't find an exact model of it. It always sits out in the open and can be seen from the parking lot. :D
