Re: Never trains again - NS sold LVRR mainline

Reason why the LV was abandoned is no direct route to Allentown Yard from the north. Trains at Bethlehem on the ex-LV can cross over on the connector bridge by the Hill to Hill bridge. But trains from the north need to switch to the ex-CNJ at Lehighton to be able to enter Allentown Yard. But some ea...

I hope there is a rare mileage trip somewhere in PA or NJ this year. Whether it be an NS steam excursion, M&E excursion, or Amtrak excursion. I missed out on the Lehigh Limited and last year's Amtrak trip.

Re: New Operator for the Stourbridge Line?

I was on this train in October 1986, pulled by the BL-2 diesel. The 1986 brochure showed a Susquehanna RS-3 diesel though. Did they ever use a NYSW RS-3 on the Stourbridge? I was 12 at the time. Good to hear it's coming back. On our way home to Allentown, PA we stopped at the train station in Scrant...

How about if NS sells the line north of Phillipsburg to Black River, then the #142 can run up to Belvidere, NJ or Portland! Why does NS need to hold on to that line anyway? Is there still coal business for the power plants? Isn't there two power plants up that way? I asked the Bel-Del crew a few yea...

Yay! 765 can finally go to Steamtown! The steam hater new leader of CP can go back to where he came from. I wonder if NS will let Steamtown use the line again since NS prohibits open window coaches on its own excursions. Steamtown ran a few trips to the Nicholson Viaduct a few years ago and cancelle...

Well, not sure if they could operate in shared assets territory (east of Manville, NJ) but last year's Lehigh Limited with M&E was a success and it did operate over the shared assets portion of ex-LV track. I heard though that NKP 765 might make its way east again next year. Just cross your fing...

I was 7 when the trains to Bethlehem were cut, I never got to ride it. And the Allentown extension was a failure because it had so low ridership. And a bus shelter and crumbling concrete platform for a station off of Union St. I live just west of Allentown. I wonder why the Lehigh Valley area got sc...

The horn on the Alcos is actually a K3LA I found out. I made reskins of the M&E Alcos #18 and #19 in Trainz a while ago and changed the default horn sound to a K3LA. Nice to see a passenger train in the Steel City again (Bethlehem) the last regular service to Philly was on June 30, 1981 and the ...

I really wish they would run a repeat of this excursion especially for those who missed it the first time. Or, if NS can get the NKP 765 back east again and run on the Lehigh Line from Bound Brook, NJ through Allentown, PA to Reading or Harrisburg, PA. That would really sell out if it happened. Ther...

Yes, some of the NS steam trips sold out quickly because of the rare opportunity. But I never rode the ex-Reading mains before, yes I missed all previous excursions on those routes. I'm from just west of Allentown, too bad the train is not going on the line through my area. It would be neat to have ...

I would love to ride this, how often does the public get to ride the ex-Reading main lines through Reading? Almost never. In the 80's the BM&R operated multiple steam excursions to Philly and Harrisburg and other places when the mainlines were Conrail. Even NKP 765 ran two trips from NJ to Readi...

There is a DEM available of the route, I have it and I built some track on it, Lansdale to Bethlehem and a bit south of Lansdale.

Well. it would be nice to see 765 run some of those lines, 765 went through Binghamton last in 1988 on a ferry move to NJ to operate excursions to Reading, PA from Bound Brook and Port Jervis from Hoboken. Those weren't NS excursions then, Conrail (and NJT) owned those lines then, they were Tri-Stat...

Is the ex-Erie west of Binghamton the only track NS owns now? Remember when steam excursions by the NYS&W came to Binghamton, as well as Steamtown from Scranton, and NKP 765 passed through on the way to NJ in summer 1988? Since NS has a new steam program, what is the likelihood that 765 could go...

When do you think you'll reach Riegelsville? This year, or next? Do you plan to ever go south of Riegelsville? Will making the ride longer screw up the schedules? Longer runs will mean less round trips per day. If they went all the way to Milford, that would mean only two round trips per day, or may...
