Re: Ex Reading Bethlehem Branch Being Torn Up

Wouldn't it make more sense to have service to BUS (Bethlehem Union Station) as well as extend the Raritan Valley Line to Pburg and into PA to Bethlehem (yes, NJT runs to 30th St. Station so yes NJT trains could run in PA) to have both NYC and Philly service from Bethlehem? Also, service could be ex...

Don't you get it? If rail service would be restored they would have to replace the tracks anyway. This actually makes it a lot easier to lay new tracks when the time comes. By clearing the 25 years of brush, etc. The line north of Qtown and south of Saucon Yard was last used in 1984 I believe by fre...

I know where this station is, it's across from the Wawa on 100. It's old and dilapidated, and it looks like a freight station. Who knows how long it will be there, since the rest of the land is empty and could be for sale. I live on Schantz Rd. Apparently there was a branch line that went past this ...

Is there no longer any track under I-78? But both tracks exist up to Hellertown itself? Problem with the speeders, almost all the crossings are either paved over or removed, rendering them impassible with a rail vehicle. Plus with no crossing signals, you would need a pretty loud horn on the speeder...

Can anyone tell me what NS' attitude is toward passenger movements on freight-only lines with no Amtrak service, like the Lehigh Valley area? I know David Goode killed the steam excursion program end of 94 whereas the Claytors were all for it. It'll be a cold day in you know where when regular passe...

I just joined, I saw the special train at Macungie this morning, and my digital camera wouldn't work! It won't turn on even with fresh batteries and the two lights on the back that blink were steady. So, no pics of the train. A couple freights went through both ways before the special, a regular fre...
