just to add more fuel to a fire that may or not actually be burning (but hey, it's entertaining), if you check the NS system map, it shows their trackage/haulage option from Binghamton thru Albany, then Ayer to Waterville.

definitely looks like they've figured out a connection to New England!

rr.net is a great place for elaborate suppositions, wide-eyed daydreaming, and pessimistic guesswork... but somehow this time it actually feels like it's finally feasible. i wonder how much of the old customer base might come back, or be coaxed back by NS. it's hard to be realistic with such a huge ...

a friend of mine up in Salem told me that the Peabody customer (used to be Bicknell & Fuller, now is Liberty Carton New England) is still open and doing business.

i sure hope that at least they keep up service, since Eastman doesn't get the hydrochloric anymore!

Disclaimer: This shot is NOT taken by me... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=127985 Looks pretty generic to me.. :( generic? i thought it was pretty slick looking, and a smart way to maintain and revamp the green that NYA was already using. but then again, i never understood the big dea...

boy, i don't understand. i thought things were going well for NYA businesswise.

why is Pineaire being eliminated? i was under the impression that this station was pretty busy and keeping an engine there was essential. i guess i don't really know what's happening.

woz...
very nice. i especially like the line, "There are no gats (sic) or lights at any of the numerous grade crossings.."

from the Bush's rep, you'd think there's more gats than he imagined! :-D

but it looks like the plans lead up to where the Red Bridge stood until recently- putting residences also close to the Grand Junction and the Lowell line. thanks a lot Mr. Mellon- sounds like he's planning on killing off as much rail as possible. anyone who can afford this sprawling new utopia is go...

does anyone know the current status of the tracks on the stubby end of the put? i know Butler lumber is gone now, and there were scrap gondolas that were there while the mall was being built. i only know it from the Deegan and have never checked it out before. are the tracks still there? and what's ...

Cowford-
It seems like that would make a big difference, being able to take deliveries in the larger cars. Where are the height issues? I know that they removed the Red Bridge.

I presume this was the same diamond that was used to service the old recycling customer in Charlestown as well.

Maybe one day rail will get another chance.. though probably not in this lifetime.
