Nice job. When I think of Terre Haute, I go back to my childhood when my family would ride New York Central trains annually across the Midwest, between end points of Albany and St. Louis. Anyway, as we approach the city in question, conductors would call out, as they passed through the coaches, &quo...

Having been away from that area for quite some time, I cannot answer the question completely. What is the current layout of CP10, in terms of switches, crossovers, and possible routes of movement? If there is a crossover that connects to either the other main or the controlled siding or both, then t...

In my experience (operating freight trains for PC/CR for roughly 15 years) this was a phenomenon that plagued the U series units. Compared to the EMD products (35 series and later) the load control of the U-boats was atrocious. Early U25/28 series were the worst, as I recall, in that they would some...

Is that "Main" Line or "Train" Line? If set to Train Line it would reduce power to the whole consist through the jumper. Local would be just the isolated unit.

ElectroMotive nameplate on the stand indicates an EMD unit. Can't tell much more than that.

Looks like an AAR standard control stand on a unit not equipped with dynamic brakes. 26L brake valve. Digital display of some kind.

Prior to Conrail's departure from electric ops on the NEC, electric motors were equipped with speed control. In subsequent operations, up until the Chase incident, cab signals were pretty much just indicators in the cab that demanded acknowledgement of signal drops from "clear" in order to...

I would say it depends on the size of the tornado. I recall a 3/4 mile-wide F5 that practically wiped Jarrell TX off the map, leaving a wide swath of slabs where there were once homes and businesses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_Central_Texas_tornado_outbreak I don't believe the average run-of...

1. A penalty application is a service rate of reduction. 2. I can't answer that one. 3. An automatic cab signal system without some kind kind of speed control only requires acknowledgement of the signal change within a specific amount of time. This is accomplished by pressing a button, moving a leve...

This reminds me of the tragic event on NYC main at Oneida, NY in 1963. Same thing happened -- they waited for the first train to clear then pulled in front of the second. They weren't as fortunate as the Texan. Old heads talked about the sad Oneida story years later. https://www.fireengineering.com/...
