From my vantage point, there remains possibility at this time that CSX will use their 50% ownership and control of PAS to facilitate movement of at least some B&A traffic east of Springfield onto PAS to make way for the E-W passenger rail project, or at least to provide a hedge until the full p...
Thanks for this info about NS funded upgrades Actually the Hill Yard improvements are funded by a MassDOT IRAP. Neither NS nor PAR directly fund capital work on PAS. PAS can only invest back into the plant what they can generate for cash. Pan Am Southern had a multi phase plan to untangle the yard....
Here's my take on where CSX's interest lies with the Pan Am acquisition. (1) Forest products (2) Energy (3) Everything else This, plus the theory going around the other Class Is that CSX is buying PAR simply to offset the huge Capital gains they made on the Virginia deal. This is why they have conc...

No, the plant isn't set up to unload it right now....plus it is cheaper by water. It may be as simple as the tracks and conveyors to handle it are out of service and Dragon doesn't want to spend the capital to fix them. You may see CP put something together via Searsport. Since it has to be truck de...
Dragon is burning petcoke. They can't take it by rail for some reason.
Are there any other rail routes across or around the Hudson in the USA besides Selkirk and the Amtrak bridge in Albany? New York harbor carfloats, plus, of course, Amtrak via Penn Station (I think that was proposed for a specialized TOFC/COFC single level route at one point)... Early 1980s with Roa...

The P&W-CSO interchange is done under a waiver from CSX and is only for CSX bound freight off the P&W. It gives them a shortcut.
I would think getting G&W service would be to the advantage of the shippers Sure that would be great, but it isn't part of this deal. G&W will own 100% of CSO and NS and CSX (for now) will own PAS. The twice weekly EDPL will continue to feed cars to Plainville. CSO is tied up in so many pap...
So in 2013 or so, a house was near the end of the trail to get out to the overlook - effectively blocking the easy access. The overlook itself appears to be public property as an adjoining parcel to US 22. Google Earth shows a bunch of zig zag switchback paths to get up the steep hillside from below...
PAR has parted ways with the 333/322 duo. It would have been cool to reunite the 573 with this pair but the Conway Scenic wasn’t that interested. The 322 May wind up in Thomaston, CT when all is said and done. http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=202104082311446638.jpg&order=bydate&page=3...
The Conrail interchanges were split as follows: Rotterdam Jct. (points in NY), Pittsfield (Canaan Branch), Springfield (Connecticut River Line points and Adams Branch) and Barber everything else.
The Mid-Atlantic has James Riffin, we have Dan Bigda. I've met Bigda a couple of times, he is an absolute moron. He basically got fired from Vertex Railcar despite being a founding partner owning 35%. I can only reason that he must have inherited money and is looking to do something with it. He sees...
