Re: Possible final run for FGLK on the old LV

Victor Insulator is done receiving by rail? The way I understand it, an option is transloading (possibly the spur off Hook Rd?) but yes direct service to the Insulator is done. Four truckloads of clay is the equivalent of one rail car worth. They haven't had service for some time, I guess. The vill...

Possible final run for FGLK on the old LV

Just came across a Facebook post on the Rochester railfan group that today's Finger Lakes Railway run to Victor will be the final one into the village. There were some cars stored on the far west end and apparently FGLK went to fetch them today. Reportedly the track will be placed OOS west of Hook R...

Looking at recent Google aerial views and street views, it doesn't look like Fieldbrook Foods (just to the south of the NS diamond) is getting rail service. Truck trailers are sitting there encroaching on the spur. The end of track just north of E. Main St. (US 20) looks bereft of customers as well....

I love the building and it's historical significance. That said, it would cost an insane amount of money to save it . Here's my thought - if ADM wants to tear it down, fine. But I would want them to reinvest in the property to help secure jobs and revenue in return. Maybe a compromise could be reach...

Hmmm......finding users on there can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Hopefully he resurfaces!

I haven't seen anything of him for quite a while, Don. Hopefully he's doing ok wherever he is! Wasn't he out in Oklahoma for some time? 🤔

ADM and Buffalo preservationists are going to mediation. There are engineering reports in this piece that are worth looking over. Pretty sure Great Northern is toast. Fair use quote: BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The fate of the "Great Northern Elevator" located at 250 Ganson St. in Buffalo's Old...

I agree 100%. It's a shame, given it's historical significance - however, it's way too far gone to be properly saved. Get your photos if you already haven't, before it comes down. Let ADM build something new and functional to keep it's roots in Buffalo, so yet another business doesn't pick up and le...

condition of the same roundhouse and possibly saving it. I don't know if the rattle-can art was there then already or not. https://railroad.net/lv-manchester-roundhouse-t43506.html Well look at that - 14 years later and not only is the roundhouse still standing, but its future looks considerably br...

East of Sayre, I've seen evidence that Laceyville and Falls were both equilaterals. Laceyville had been at the end of double track all the way from Sayre, and was the beginning of 30+ miles of single track through Vosburg tunnel without passing opportunities until reaching Falls. There was another ...

I believe that was an abutment in Atlanta that once held a bridge that carried the old Erie branch line over the Lackawanna.

Yep, they're still in operation. The big ALCO's aren't really being used now, as the former CSX AC6000's have taken their place. I caught the Farmer's Valley run early last week from Olean, which the four axle ALCO's still handle. The runs to Driftwood are seldom now, however.

There's at least a few hundred of these cars scattered in B&P territory, rough estimate. I've heard other shortlines in PA are being paid to store these as well. Last week, I could swear I saw some of the same type of covered hoppers stored on the WNYP just west of Cuba Jct, but it was from a d...

Excellent, this is a gem! The only thing that looks like it might remain is the little water tower just to the right of the pole line on the left side of the photo. I took a screen capture of Google's aerial view that I was able to toy with and adjust. In my attachment, it's on the left side of the ...
