Re: CMSL service Rio Grande to Cape May - 2013

That letter hits the nail on the head - and yes it should be public. Maybe, just maybe, we might get answers if it is public. At this point, the whole thing is a lost cause, which is a shame. It almost seems like there is a personal pride issue there, and thats the biggest hold up with all of this. ...

yes beanbag you are correct, but my point is, is by calling the train early, and putting folks down on the platform without a train, and then things change, its much more of a pain and much more aggravating for employees but more so the passengers to go up and over to another track. it would often t...

Remember conrail also had the conveyer trains I believe they were called, that transported rock from the Stavola quarry on the Raritan Valley Line to the sand pits and then loaded sand and brought it back to the quarry. They ran in the late 80s, and I believe ran with a diesel on each end so they di...

Sometimes NJT especially does call a train without the equipment being there. They call it "pre-loading" As soon as the train comes in, the doors are supposed to open up and the people will board. It works, sometimes, but if the train is late coming in, and they do that, there is the added...

In a way, I wasn't kidding regarding Cranford to Bayonne. I think there would be a market for service from Cranford through to Elizabeth and beyond. They have been trying to rebuild the E'port area for years with new condos, waterfront park etc. Rail service can only help. Look how $$ and popular h...

Penn Station could become a destination in itself, much like Grand Central is. I bet there are many more than 20,000 a people over the course of the day that go there just to get food, be tourists and spend money. I don't think Penn Station has that appeal to anyone....other than maybe to go to Don ...

Things have changed a little bit since the late 1980s however... One thing is fuel costs...obviously. Sure, the costs are going to be higher for the railroad and running the locomotive than it was in the 80s, but I bet it might be cheaper now for the shipper with all the trucks that go in and out of...

X239 ran today, 4515-5-6006. Matawan https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1073332_576009809103811_2045721107_o.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; And that will be the last time for PNC events X239/8370 will run. -NO BS The crews will be quite happy to hear that........

The cars have no event recorder, the only way to tell if the handbrakes were on a car are by visual inspection or actually testing the wheel/lever. The locos are supposed to record just about everything including the engineer farting, and each loco should have a recorder, so there should be plenty ...

A friend and I were talking last night at work about the crash and the circumstances around it. A question that I have had for a while now, and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, is what is the deal with the remote control caboose that was behind the loco? Are (were) they using one man crews to d...
