Multiple reports (probably from the same source) say that Disney Springs is to be the agreed site of the Brightline Station. This makes sense, since Disney Springs is 1) already a transport node for WDW (you can see the bus bays in the link at #2, below) 2) already multimodal (as home to the Lime a...

Re: "I Did It Once"; Or Overnight Amtrak Business Travel

I think the simple reality is that not everyone is going to like it. The world is full of different people. Some will like sleeping in their own bed, waking up early, and flying to their destination. Some will like flying up the night before, and enjoying the hotel. Some will enjoy getting a sleeper...

Good. Now if we can derail that stupid 270 monorail project, we'll be on track to actually have some decent solutions, like Metro to Frederick with peak directional express between Shady Grove and Frederick, or building the 3rd track to run more MARC trains.

Transit really can be it's own worst enemy sometimes. I've been to Honolulu several times, it SCREAMS light rail. The airport is centrally located on the south shore, between two major built up areas that both have populations settled in narrow strips along the coast. This should be a model showcase...

With all due respect, the laws of Spain are just that, the laws of Spain. They don't apply in the USA anymore than the laws of the USA apply in Spain.

I've done this detour, it is slow. This is an example of how CAHSR screwed up. They should have built something that would have been immediately valuable as a demonstration for future value. An improved route through the mountains would have made a ton of sense (as would a full 2-3 track connection ...

It's a misnomer to say it's "Free." You are paying for it one way or another. Either you are paying for it at the farebox, or you are paying for it on April 15th when you file your taxes. I disagree with the idea of it being free. It certainly should be affordable, and there are ways to gi...

LIRR has this at Jamaica Station. Trains coming from or going to Penn Station will use a single track with platforms on both sides to allow transfers to/from other lines.

The NYC subway uses this design on certain lines and certain stations to allow local and express train cross-platform transfers.

“Proceed to position A to board coach 1.” Or “...business car A” or “sleeping car C” or for Acela, “FirstClass car 1.” Even if the crew is arbitrary about where they seat you, they’ll have to at least assign you a car before the train arrives. This functionality could provide a foundation for Amtra...

I mean, on one hand, airlines have cut back service as a result of COVID, so I'm not totally against it as a temporary measure. On the other hand, the timing is weird, since traffic is already been cut down due to lock downs, and things are reopening now, the only thing I could think of is maybe the...
