There was quite some operation there a very long time ago. http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/8259/Lawrence+++South+Side" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The building you see there now once held a concrete distributor who received concrete by rail and distributed it to th...

Must be some high ground next to it, like some ledge or something. But the photo does contradict the way I was told. Does not look like the conductors side is down at all. But the informant was on scene and it was probably dark. This is at CP Frye where the tracks still drop to single track. There'...

One word applies here: ridiculous. Can you see octr202 driving down to Lowell Jct. from Essex St. in Andover?! :-D I'd be moving. Talk about assinine. Two stations that serve traditional town/village centers, yet still have ample parking* for those not within walking distance. With the always drawn...

Hello all! Im new here and my question is, will BNSF still consider me when I failed to mention a minor moving violation on my driving record from 2008? I know, idiot. But it was an honest mistake. Nothing to lie about. I drove threw a parking lot to turn on the next street along with a handful of ...

Welcome to the Railroad.net forums! I can't speak specifically regarding this job, however, age discrimination is a no-no according to the equal opportunity laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As long as you meet the requirements and can do the job, then there is no reason not to hir...

I know you said you've held a job for 5 years but were you terminated by any employer in the past 2 years of applying with UP? This is an unpublished, yet definite, automatic denial as well. Usually a previous employer cannot disclose this information. In the even that they are asked for employment...

Was cleaning up some stuff today and found some topo maps I picked up at a garage sale this summer. One shows Westbrook so I tried scanning that section. Says last edited 1978 but I'm sure some of it was out of date. I can make a higher res scan if need be. westbrook.JPG We thank you for the gestur...

This is terribly sad news to hear/read. I too haven't been around in awhile and just came across this thread. He and I had some nice conversations about the EL on a few occasions. He surely is missed.

Tracks are long out of service from Ossipee pit to Conway. The former NHN 1757 will be taken from Dover to Danville Junction by PAR, from Danville Junction to Groveton by the SL&A, from Groveton to Hazens by the NHCR and to North Conway by the Conway Scenic. That's quite a long way to go around...

Okay, I'm confused here. Are the tracks serviceable from Milton all the way to Conway? That would be nice if the whole line was active again.

I like the way the residents complain that the railroad and Tighe didn't consider them when they wanted to start up operations again. Did the residents consider asking Mr. Tighe or the MBTA if it was okay to move in?

This is nothing more than NIMBYs and real estate agents.

I remember riding the Wason cars when I was a kid. My grandfather worked down in South Boston and I'd ride the EL with my dad to visit him when we were in Boston. At 5 and 6 years old, and a wild-eyed rail fan back then, I remember the differences between these cars and those on the Red and Blue lin...
