Re: Whose tracks? Englewood, Tenafly, Cresskill etc.

What customers do they serve up there? I assume they'd still be able to serve those customers after the Light Rail goes in?

Not a problem; in between these posts I was following the tracks on Google Maps and I was thinking it wouldn't be real hard to make those rails part of the HBLR system. Pretty cool! I am working down in Weehawken now; how many moons do you think it will take?

Whose tracks? Englewood, Tenafly, Cresskill etc.

Hi All, Who owns the tracks that head north from around Palisades Park through Englewood, Cresskill, Tenafly, Closter, Norwood, Northvale and then terminates up by the NY State line? I believe it becomes a rail trail up there. Not the CSX main line - the rails I am talking about are further east (th...

Saw this email on the Yahoo NYSW group this morning - 2 of the SD70s have been released for active duty, 3rd on its way: NS SD70M's 2798 (former NYSW 4052) and 2799 (former NYSW 4054) have been released to active service. The third unit, NS 2797 (former NYSW 4050), has been repainted but has not yet...

Here's the thing: 50-odd cars just went past Wortendyke a couple of minutes ago heading west. Couldn't see which units were on it or how many. I guess *that* was probably the 99?

I'm gonna venture a guess that the train that went through around 2:50pm (2:30ish here I'd guess) was today's SU-99? Because I was just out walking the dogs and caught a CSX stack train coming back down from Binghamton. 4 diesels were CSX 3053, CSX 7824, NYSW 3810 and NYSW 3802. Got some pics of it ...

Are there detours happening somewhere? A stack train just went past my house. Didn't see whose locos were on it; couldn't make anything out in the dark.

Kinda begs the question, if it would be so popular and would sell out, why *don't* they do it?

Problem with 3016?

I've passed by the Ridgefield Park yard a handful of times on the way home from work the last few weeks. Is there something wrong with 3016? It's been buried on that siding behind the old yellow caboose down in Ridgefield Park for probably around a month now. 3014 seems to be handling all the locals...

Something very long passed through here fairly early this morning heading in the direction of Binghamton; I thought it looked like a container train, but maybe it was the garbage train. I think it went by around 9:30am.

They may be working their way up for all I know; seems like all the big ones in my area are getting repaired. The one right here by my house, they cut out the rails, put in those concrete-block grade crossings in, and then welded new rail in. Rails must have gone back in some time today, because thi...

Well... you were indeed correct. The sign must've gone up some time early Wednesday morning, because it was there when I left for work. Unless of course I'm seriously blind and I just missed it Tuesday night. Either way, it's there - the Newtown Rd. crossing closes for repair on 7/7/14. What are the...

This evening I drove over the crossing where Sicomac Rd. in Midland Park crosses the NYS&W main, and there was a big sign that said the crossing was going to be closed for repair on or about 7/14/14. Is this a one-time thing or are all the crossings being looked at? I'd say the Newtown Rd crossi...

Can anyone tell me whether or not the SU-100 will leave Binghamton on a normal schedule this weekend, or is it being changed b/c of the holiday?

Funny, because it's going by my house right now (9:45PM @ Wortendyke Station) and I just logged on to see what that was. What was in the consist? It was quite long and I only saw one diesel. Empties? Through the trees, though, so not the most reliable sighting ever. Anyone up in Pompton/Butler etc w...
