Yes it did, here's a picture on the Maverick surface loop which went the other way then.
and another on the single track Lexington St. Line.
3001 must have got there through the
non revenue track via Everett Sq.
I've seen a map, very impressive for one day.

That June 1938 fantrip took 3001 many places where no other PCC would ever go.
Here it is in Chelsea. The trip also covered the Allston-Dudley line, went to Dorchester,
Somerville and the inner Fellsway. Pretty good for probably a buck or two.

I can't find the lower Level diagram right now but, I do know that the railroad loop was entirely within the property line of the Boston Terminal Company and, the subway lobby was entirely outside that property. The direct entrance to the inside of south Station is relatively new, after the property...
Paul, Keep it all in one. it is a great reference.

The bridge closure went on so long that it was for much of the MTA trolley time in east Boston. It went on so long that it was on the map. Here's a couple of map excerpts which show the situation. The next map (1952) the trolleys were gone. I believe that cars operated over the new Meridian St. Brid...
The Meridian St. Bridge was closed for quite a while right near the end of the streetcar era. It was, I believe changed from a swing bridge to a double bascule. During that time all the lines from Maverick through Chelsea had to use the Chelsea St. Bridge. The tanker is moored (no wash, no tugs) and...
Paul, Here's why I don't believe it is Kneeland or Broadway. First a picture of the trackwork just before it went completely out of use. There's that jog! I didn't know this until I looked it up in connection with this discussion. It may be just one track, more research indicated. As for Kneeland, W...
That is correct in all particulars. Specifically Sept. 9 1912. The work on the street corners is footing work for the platforms and stairs which are structurally semi-independent of the Structure itself. One thing I noticed and might follow up is the fact that in the picture, the Dover St. surface t...
Paul, if you were thinking of the place in this picture, good idea but not it.

The crossing of Northampton was not plate girder.
There are other places where double track crossed under the El
some at right or close to right angles. I just looked it up.
One of them really surprised me. That's another good question.
LS
Not Northampton but Ferro has the timespan right.

When I found this picture, I thought it would be a good quiz subject.
The questions are Where, Approximately when and what is going on.

For those who are following this, here is the last picture of trains at Ludlow.
I now know a lot more than I did about Ludlow and hope everyone else enjoyed it as much.
This picture is at the station (branch) from the other direction.
LS
Here is the map of Ludlow in 1912. All pictures posted here were taken in the area of this map. Note that there are two ways out of the mill complex. I'm guessing that the small locomotive served trains going out the bottom of the map (B&A Main Line) leaving them on the interchange track. Branch...
