There are a number of lines on the chopping block, including the Fort Wayne Line and Toledo Branch Subdivision. I had my money on NS buying the Ft. Wayne Line back, but from what I've seen recently that's not in the cards. The Toledo Branch Sub would seem to fit with the Indiana & Ohio system, b...

I believe there are still some leased to CSX through Helm, too.

Milford is no longer a problem. I spent many days there this past summer without any problems. HK Tower (St. Joe) is still to be avoided. The local residents will call the DeKalb Co. Sherriff. Butler is an alternative as long as you avoid the diamond.

Another question: Who owns the Central Union Terminal in Toledo? Its looks like it is in good shape. And it is still used buy Amtrack...a major plus for a building that is only 53 years old. (It won't be 54 until 9/17/2004). WNYRailfan The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, and I belive the offici...

Fostoria is much worse than Vickers. I never see anyone around Vickers anymore; most are too afraid of being arrested, I'd wager. First nice weekend in Fostoria though and there were probably 30 railfan cars floating around town. You couldn't get anywhere in town without running into another railfan...

What's the big deal with Marion? The photo opptrotunities are almost non-existant and it's constantly overun with foamers. I just don't see why it's a popular spot...

I'm Brian Schmidt, KC8UYI. Yeah, that is a confusing call. I'm hoping to get around to getting a railroad-themed vanity call sometime this summer. I got my ticket in October 2002 and I'm really enjoying the hobby. Anyway, the QTH is Napoleon, Ohio and if you're in my neck of the woods fire up the Na...

Lets get the Railroad Names correct and were they went. Pot calling the kettle black... It was just the "Lake Erie & Western" that ran west from Sandusky. The Toledo , Lake Erie & Western is a tourist line that runs on the former Clover Leaf line from Grand Rapids to Waterville.

Glendale.

Great line, great signals, great trains, and a great bar right next to the tracks! :P

I've got a Yaesu VX-5RS handheld and a Comet SMA-24 whip when I need to be portable. For in-car scanning I've got a Yaesu FT-2800M mobile and a Diamond NR770HA with a Diamond K702M mag mount. The range is exceptional compared to a consumer scanner. I would like to pick up a second handheld, probably...

CSX was originally setup to be a holding company for Chessie System and Seaboard Industries. As it was originally setup, CSX was never to be a railroad itself. I believe it was Hays Watkins, the first president of CSX, who said (to paraphrase), "You will never seen an engine or boxcar painted f...
