I had heard that Jersey sand is good for water filtration systems. Is that true?
First, welcome! I believe the line you describe is actually the "Lehigh Line" which NS and CSX share with NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Line for about 5 miles. It is a main freight train route, carrying about 2/3rds of all rail freight going to the NY City area. The Raritan Valley Line split...
If the PA "just"extended the PATH line north from 33rd street to 45th street, there wouldn't be much advantage to running the 7 train to Hoboken.

I can't believe you actually gave a line-by-line reply to my post. I guess you missed that I was trying to be constructively sarcastic...I really like the 7 line extension proposal.
1. Empty NJ Trains between Secaucus and Penn Station: Everyone will get off NJ Transit trains in Secaucus so they get ride the 7 all the way to midtown/Grand Central and transfer as they please. 2. Too much cost savings...not enough corruption for contractors to reward NJ politicians. What is Christ...
What clearances do the electric wires pose around Dover?
I'm sorry to hear the wye is gone but on a positive note the bike trail is probably pretty cool. I'll have to check it out...and if the bike trail also goes up the Pittstown branch that would be really cool.
Well, raise the car tolls to $20 to cross into Manhattan on weekdays, and privatize the operations of NJ Transit and PATH. A private company could probably build a smarter tunnel better, faster, and cheaper than the state. And a private company could run trains far better than NJ Transit.
www.innovationfuels.com seems to work for basic contact details. I didn't try the phone #.
It is very interesting to see LaHood's figures getting very close to Christie's. I am getting optimistic that this will be worked out between the Feds and NJ. The project is "shovel ready" so it may get its fair share of stimulus money.
That would be a [long overdue] win for NJ.
I was just riding my bike past Oak Point Yard today. I believe the humungous fill pile is actually being carted away. Of the tracks that curve south out of the yard, only about 9 remain. They have been a little reconfigured so they cover about 1/3rd of the original south part of the yard. The other ...
thanks I really enjoyed the Courier's op ed piece. and you can be sure, the longer the escalator...the more often it will be broken.
actually Switzerland has historically been a huge tax haven with low taxes, heavy capitalism, and a very professional government. It is far from socialist. And it works much better. But my point was about the quality of engineering and planning, not a political statement.
Gilbert great reference to the Swiss. If NJ hired the Swiss to engineer and build the tunnel, and provide Swiss cost projections, I would think Christie [and I] would have much more confidence in the "ARC"
