That's fantastic! Russ, how does the Put ROW Rail-Trail connect to the Maybrook? As I recall, the Put ended between Brewster and Southeast. The Maybrook is going to be turned into a rail-with-trail. It was double-tracked at one time. One of the tracks was pulled, and in places the tracks were moved...
I've added the Georgetown Branch to OpenRailwayMap.org. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/231881790

That grading survives today on private property.Do you know where that grading is? I can't see it on the LIDAR.
So, when this section is completed, one will be able to ride a bike on a contiguous paved trail from Hopewell Junction in Dutchess County to Kingston, NY in Ulster County? It's even better than that. You'll be able to ride from the north edge of the Bronx to Kingston on rail-trails. Sorta. The trol...
By the way, the LIDAR map is at this link. Should have added it to the post last August. https://orthos.dhses.ny.gov/?Extent=-84 ... =hillshade

Haha, yes, the LIDAR images are fascinating. So much to be seen there that you can't otherwise see!
This looks to be the 8 miles from track laid going east out of Canton, PA: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/269114985
When I walked through it, I attracted no (obvious) attention.
Probably a combination of all of those: installing a new bridge, eliminating a dip, and widening for double tracking. Thanks!
Looking through the NYS LIDAR, I found this relocation west of the NYC track south of Himrod. Does anybody know why they relocated the tracks so close to the ones? I have several views shown. You can only see the relocation on the LIDAR. and the maps. It is now completely wooded-over or else plowed/...
It wasn't easy. but I dug out my paper topos (most of the trolley line, and all of the completed grading that I'm aware of is on the Monticello quad- mine is 1966). No markings for the ROW, and no way to tell from the contour lines; they followed the contours. I found it! I used NYS LIDAR to trace ...
WOW!!!!!! This is AMAZING! All of these images clearly show the Saratoga & North Creek Railroad. But ONLY on the LIDAR can you see the unfinished Sackets Harbor & Saratoga Railroad. I knew there was a smaller section of it built higher up on the hill south of here, but I didn't know about th...
