By default, the schedule shown on the website is for the current day; there's a menu option above the timetable to select a different day. Today, Dec. 26, the commuter rail is running a weekend schedule, so there are no trains to Stoughton.

The ROW is wide enough for double track the entire way. The MIT building at Main St was specifically designed to accommodate a second track if the T ever decides to restore it.

Worse: my understanding is that the frames on the BEB's are lighter than normal to compensate for the weight of the batteries.

The switch stand indicator shows white on the visual. What does it show for an oncoming loco?. As well what should it have shown if switch was in proper direction? That's a good catch. At the beginning when the engine makes a normal move the switch stand shows white, but it also shows white in the ...

When the time comes, folks from Seashore will inspect the cars still on the property and pick the pair in the best condition.

At least part of the problem is slow orders over much of the line while the new track settles. Those are expected to be eliminated by next Monday.

When an articulated car goes around a curve, portions of the floor go under side panels and/or would be walled off using railings. Imagine that the portions of floor that could get so covered or were so considered off limits were painted yellow as a warning not to stand there. In a Type 10, would t...

Perfectly good plug doors existed when the Boeings were built, but Boeing refused to license any existing designs and instead came up with their own, which was infamous for being far more complicated and failure-prone.

The bridge plates may only be needed as a temporary measure until all the platforms can be rebuilt. Modern streetcars with true level-boarding that I've seen don't use them, as the platforms are positioned close enough to the track to not need them (some do have door thresholds that extend an inch o...

Incorrect. In order to provide cars for the Riverside Line, the MTA had to convert the 7-years-old trackless trolley lines out of Forest Hills to diesel buses, so that those trolleybuses (with their left-hand doors) could be reassigned to North Cambridge Carhouse to operate routes 71/72/73, so that ...

The Worcester Line was once 4 tracks from Boston to Framingham, but 2 of them were removed in the 1950s or '60s as passenger service collapsed.

At least in the afternoon, the T has bus trips that originate at Boston Latin (and presumably other schools as well) and spread out on several routes (there's one, for example, that's an extended Route 32 bus out to Wolcott Sq.)
