Two teenagers took a Hocking Valley Scenic locomotive on a joyride this morning. Fortunately, no one was injured and no equipment was damaged during their 12-mile journey.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but since it involved a tourist line this seemed to be the place for it.
A new law allows inspectors to ticket those caught evading fares. According to this article , fines will be $15 for the first offense, $100 for the second, and $250 for subsequent violations. Arborwayfan wrote:The incline to the Arborway yard did exist; they used it for getting the main line el cars to the arborway shops for a while. There's another picture in the Boston Rapid Transit Album, published in the early 1980s.Let me guess, it's on pages 31-34, which are long-missing from my copy.
Nice pictures, but could you reformat the link so it doesn't make the page 2 feet wide, please? Thanks. (Hint: use tinyurl.com) BTW, regarding the track stub near Forest Hills, has anyone ever seen a photo of the ramp down into Arborway that it supposedly connected to? That sounds like a major piece...
Is there anything left of the former ROW past Greenbush? I recall it being mentioned that the whole extension to Duxbury (?) couldn't be restored, but is there any possibility for a shorter extension? If you look on Google Earth you can trace it for a few miles south of Greenbush before traces beco...

Just got back from examining the damage to 1644. The underbody below the cab is completely ruined, similar to the damage on 1710. The front of the cab is mostly undamaged, except for the ditchlight on the fireman's side. Also on that side, one of the windows towards the rear was popped out of its fr...
You may be thinking of the converted Boeing car on the extended crossover between Boylston and Arlington. That's still there.
This is the Atlantic Avenue el just east of where it joined the main line el. You are looking west along what is now Herald Street and the Mass Pike. The seeming lack of any fence whatsoever between the surface street and railroad cut is a bit frightening. It appears that the camera was perched rig...
That's Lechmere. I went there at the same time with GP40MC 1116, and many of the consists heading out there had at least one Type 8 in them.
The torn up seats are due to vandalism, not the age of the cars.
Electronics aside, the MP units are mechanically similar to the F40s, so most of the shop workers wouldn't need to be retrained (or would need very little retraining). The electronics on MP locomotives are also a decade newer than whatever was retrofitted to the GP40MCs when the T bought them, and p...
Quick question: if I want to put $10 on a CharlieCard but only have a $20 bill, will I get the change as cash or on a change ticket?
Thanks
