It appears that the BL England Generating Station's days are numbered. According to an article in the Press of Altantic City, two of the three units have already been decommissioned and the plant will shut down entirely in May. The plan to build a natural gas pipeline is also being scuttled. None o...

I was watching some of the horseshoe curve webcam and a train 61N was described as a steel slab train daily from Farrel Pa. to Paulsboro N.J. Is it still 61N when in south jersey and what is the info on the steel slab loads? Where are they to and from, and what are they used to manufacture? Thanks ...

Trenton Cutoff / Morrisville line sees on average 8 movements a day

4 East/West Intermodal to/from Chicago
2 East/West manifest to/from Conway
2 locals east/west originating from Abrams
All other as needed trains barely run anymore.

The temporal separation rules would probably monkey-wrench anything more than infrequent commuter service. Temporal separation only pertains to the operation of non-compliant light-weight rolling stock from overseas. Traditional commuter and freight trains can commingle, relying on the signal syste...

It appears another combined 60N 39G just rolled past West Conshohocken. At least it looked like it. 50-70 gons up front and 30-50 mixed freight in the back.

Was the combined train a result of power issues or is this a sign that there might be combined trains moving forward?

).Speaking of, don't they already share the trackage around NTC with SEPTA already? Correct, there’s a shared stretch for a couple of miles. The single NS track branches off south of NTC and runs parallel to the Schuylkill Valley Trail for a similar distance. However AFAIK that stretch is only used...

As the Vermonter operates on the NEC though, do you realize how many business folks out of New Haven, NYC, Newark, Philly, and Baltimore would flock to use the Viewliner Diner - as a work station area? HUGE! The LSA can wipe the tables down at NYP, New Haven, Springfield, White River Jct. Completel...

As it relates to the ACS motors. There have been a number of test runs on the Norristown line within the last week. At least 5 runs.

On 10/15 I saw either a toaster or ALP-44 leading a gel train down the Norristown line.

Initial plan for new Conshohocken station was released during a town council meeting this week. Anything is an improvement than the current station, but includes no plan for increased parking, which is contradictory to PennDOT's plan for I76 congestion and directing drivers to the train. Also no bri...

No need for more tunnels if you're substituting for existing trains. Demand is at close to 100% of available inventory. You miss the point. Projections of travel on the NEC are all over the place. Anywhere from the present 2 - 3 % per year to almost double in 10 - 14 years. The higher growth rates ...

There are 5 road trains and 2-4 locals that move between Abrams and the NS Morrisville line using the bridge over the Schuylkill river and Septa trackage. There are another ~4 road trains that run East/West from Camden/Philly and 4 locals that run east of Abrams.

Operationally it would be easier, but there would be some significant local opposition to eliminating Ardmore as a stop; for one thing there's better access by local transportation to Ardmore than to Villanova. Villanova would largely serve as a park n ride I think. I'm sure the university would ge...
