Re: Proposed PATCO Expansion

Bear in mind that when PATCO was built, it was assumed that the Lindenwold line was the first of three, the other two going to Mount Holly and Glassboro. The six-car platforms on the Lindenwold line were extended to eight car length because six car trains would not have been able to carry all the p...

Maybe if septa DID 'do' economic development, they'd be moving more people more efficiently than they do now. I have been down to the waterfront (between the ben franklin bridge and the abandoned titanic-like boat on foot and by bus) and there isn't really a need for rail transit now. But comparing...

Two-car operation at peak hours has been the norm on the P&W for many years. It requires the operators to do some pretty precise spotting at some stations so the front doors of both cars are accessible. If you have a chance, check out the rehabbed Gulph Mills station some morning or late aftern...

If they do indeed run third rail through there, will the third rail interfere with freight service? I thought the LIRR and now the NY&A has something removed on their locomotives so they don't hit the third rail and rip it out? I doubt very much that Patco trains will share trackage with freigh...

They will eventually have next train arrival information. The signs at Juniper (Subway Surface) just started to function that way. When Matt????? In 2108 when they become obsolete and get replaced with the next gen of useless display signs? Remember the green ones at Juniper and all over the place?...

Seriously, what could have SEPTA done differently? They had every Silverliner, N5, M4 and Kawasaki out on the rails. It was just overload.... I will say this though, this should make SEPTA seriously think about the future. More and more people are going to use the rail system as driving becomes les ...

Does anyone have any idea Around what time that GG1 will be passing through Bryn Mawr on it's way home? Thats assuming it will use the NEC and the Keystone.

[quote="gardendance"]I'm assuming the ramps were intended for plain vanilla north on Broad St expansion. They've been there since God was a little boy. In the early days of Kawasaki express trains some of the ones that terminated at Olney used some sort of pocket track north of the station...

I've always seen CC as more of a Mini-Manhattan. I can understand your enthusiasm of the loop, but I personally don't see any use for it, especially in today's standards. The way I would've liked it, there would've been the current Market and Broad St subways, with the Arch St subway , and an JFK bl...

Cal and Khecht, as a Mainliner (sans the loads of cash) I do agree, the train, both the R5 and R6 are highly regarded. But you need to read my post more carefully. These people I speak of already have rail service at Bala station and Cynwyd Station. And now they have a walking trail too. So now they...

You people do realize that\, even if in the future this ROW is used for some new rail project, that the hoity, toity people who live in that neighborhood will fight tooth and nail against it.

<nitpick>The line is "the 100" or "Route 100" rather than "R100". It's not part of the Regional Rail system. There has been much confusion among new/occasional riders and even SEPTA personnel who mix them up, especially because so many stations serve the same communiti...

I am all for the new PA Alt 1- Extended Plan. It uses the sections of Arch Street subway built and forgotten about eons ago. If I am not mistaken, I think if the Patco uses this Alternative, they get credits(from the Federal Govt) for every dollar that using excisting infrastructure would save over ...
