105 mph winds!
I hope no catenary towers were destroyed like what happened in Maplewood (Millburn?) on the M&E a few years back from falling trees.

Very interesting discussion. Public Service Electric and Gas Company ("PSE&G") was incorporated in 1928 by PSCNJ and in that year all electric and gas properties and operations were transferred into PSE&G and the bus and railway operations into also newly incorporated Public Servi...

Does anything from Conrail at Morrisville yard make it up as far as Monmouth Junction? Similarly are there any transfers on the NEC from Morrisville to Oak Island or vice versa? I doubt it but thought I would ask.

Here's a link I found to the book GSC mentioned. It's a little early to think about my Christmas list, but may be not:

I was hoping Ken would check in here! I posted about 30 minutes ago (I thought) but it hasn't shown up yet so I will try again. Looking at the 1947 map I mentioned, if you go east the next map east is Point Pleasant 1947, which shows the same ROW running to the east, ending around Herbertville Ave a...

Try this link to old USGS topo maps. https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/topoview/viewer/#15/40.0895/-74.2052 If it works you will be looking at a Lakewood map. Click on it in the somewhere near Route 88 (Main St). A menu should open up on the right. Scroll up/down and click on "Lakewood 1947", then a ...

I tried up upload the 1958 aerial photo, but it says "Imgur is temporarily over capacity." So'll try it as an attachment. The white stripe from lower left (towards Ashland) to upper right (toward Girardville) is Route 54. To the right of it is Mahanoy Creek. It is hard to make out the LV R...

I looked on Google Street view from Rte 54, and the concrete support for the bridge over 54 ( on the westbound side side of the road )is still there. YOu can see the tracks weren't very high over the road, so I'm not surprised that overpass is gone. But there were too many leaves to look into the wo...

Is there any trace of that bridge still left? Regarding why, I'm just guessing, but perhaps the "Ashland upper route" was built to take coal to customers to the west, towards Sunbury or WIlliamsport, for example, rather than up the Gordon planes and then through Minersville and eventually ...

Thank you for the update. How is progress on Fairfield Rd to Yellowbrook Rd?
Is everything west of Yellowbrook pretty much done, except for crossings?

I took the Dinky (from Princeton Junction to Princeton) today, for the first time in a while, and while transferring at the Junction I noticed the small "Dinky Station" between the Dinky platform and the NEC platforms was closed. There was a printout on a sheet of paper taped to the inside...

No new connection to the Southern Division, heading compass southbound, on this project!

Also, on the figure on page 1, note the hand-drawn guy wires from a pole interfering with the old track ROW. towards the old crossing (and in the path of a possible future southbound connection to the Southern).
