The Belle Terre has been in the tent in the rear of the shop on track 1 on lifts with no trucks under it for a long time now - since before I started working there last summer. It's a long-term restoration project. The Royal Crest was sold last summer - I'm not sure who it was sold to, but it is no ...
Here's the final product of the music video that was shot on the M&E last month: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnpKvK2n52s
I had to go out to Morristown on Monday, and I swung by the shops around 5:45 PM. A passenger car was on Track 1. I couldn't see what it was. 18, still with the sign from the Easter Bunny Trains, was sitting on Track 2. The switcher was on Track 3. 563 and 487 were on Track 4 Ohio River was on Trac...
Hello all, For a variety of reasons, I’ve decided to consolidate the topic of my honors thesis paper. My angle of analysis will remain the same, but I am going to focus specifically on the Lehigh Valley Railroad, its inclusion in Conrail, and the resulting effects on the Lehigh Valley region from 19...
Due to a few contributions (one being 41 magazines from a single person), my list of things that I still need has shortened considerably... The Historical Guide to North American Railroads, Second Edition “Central Railroad of New Jersey” (p. 71) “Conrail (Consolidated Rail Corporation)” (p. 129) “E...
I had thought 4223,4228 were on long term lease as well as C-430 16/17 and there is that C425 #?? between M&E/RRPX they have alot of motive power and parts sources. Like I said, if you check that link to RRPX's website, it appears that 4223, 4228, and the C425 have all been SOLD, not just lease...
Yeah, thanks for posting that. I didn't see 4228 on there, but found a 2009 thread that suggests it went to the WNYP. I think 764 says "GP9-[something]" under the cab windows, but that "horse collar" on the long hood always made me think it was a GP10. Might be nice to get 489 b...

The HEP works as they used it on the museum holiday trains.Last time I checked, the piston assemblies were being rebuilt.
For anyone who's interested in following along with some of my research and even chiming in every once in a while, I've just created a Yahoo! group and mailing list for my project and invited all of my interviewees to join. This rather interesting list of invitees includes Hays Watkins, president of...
Interesting! He's a bit after the 1965-1979 time period that I'm focusing on, but he'd be cool to track down anyway.
A bunch of people have sent me Trains magazines already, which I was then able to use as coercion to convince my dad that there were articles that he would like to read and that HE should buy the DVD so that he could read them. So he's picking one up!!!! I still need the other ones though....

Hey guys, I'm actually looking for a little help on this project. I need to locate a lot of articles from train magazines dating back to the 1960's, and as a college student, I can't afford to pay $400-$500 to buy all of the back issues (some of which aren't even available). I know that a lot of peo...
I'm working on my history honors thesis (~100 page paper) on the bankruptcy of northeastern railroads, the formation of Conrail, and these events' effects on the Lehigh Valley region's economy, transportation, and population. This is a project that will take me from January to December of 2011 to co...
