Not to toot my own horn (haha, train pun!), but I've been involved in this Tri-State Railway Historical Society project that recently got a great write-up for TRAINS NewsWire: http://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2016/06/10-erie-caboose" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here's...

CNJ 24000 Series 40' Boxcars

I'm looking for information on CNJ 24000-24473 series 40' boxcars. These were 10'-0" inside height cars that just magically appeared on the CNJ freight car roster in 1964, despite having been built by AC&F in 1948. Does anyone have any idea if these cars were renumbered from other CNJ boxca...

Nice shot! The sky and the lake are a good contrast to the red locos. Has the new transload facility been put into operation? Thanks! Yes, the Troy Hills Bulk Transload Facility is now open for business, and it looks like our first customer should be bringing their cars there in the next couple mon...

No, it will always have to run with another locomotive on NJT.

Does anyone know if Mr. Moore is still alive somewhere? If so, does anyone have contact information for him?

Mr. Moore was involved in the Morristown & Erie Railroad in New Jersey for a short while circa 1977, so I'm curious if he can shed any light on his involvement.

Not really. The volume isn't there. They do a lot of one-off parts, using small quantities of materials. So there's not a lot of potential for either inbound raw materials or outbound finished products.

Way way way back they did.... we're talking CNJ/DL&W days. I don't even think it was Alcoa then. They've never gotten a car from the M&E.

Based on the condition of the M&E track and the dismal # of customers, I'd say the M&E is going to be 'history' soon lol. I'm fairly sure we're here to stay. In the past three years that I've been flying the flags of the marketing department, car numbers have been increasing on all four bra...
