Figured I'd pass this along, former MEC 254 is now Pacific Harbor Lines PHL 21:

Hah, funny, I just came on here to look for info about the place- randomly stumbled upon it while looking up directions for some place else. Looks interesting!

That's a pretty damn cool find regardless of it's history, I wouldn't write it off yet completely as far as being T related or not. Hard to tell from 4 pictures showing three sides of the truck.. I'd say that could be restored- those old military 6x6 trucks were pretty bulletproof and parts a...

I noticed recently that the southbound approach and abutment to the Merrimack River bridge has been obliterated- what's up with that? I kind of preferred the walking path there the way it was with old rail-related artifacts in place.

Does anyone know where they get that ballast/crushed stone from? I think it used to come from Rowe in Malden/Revere, but that's been closed down for quite a while now. Rowe sold that unique purple slate, rhyolite, or whatever it is, and it appears they're still getting it from somewhere. Fenway Park...

Hah, I can't believe this is still there. Do you think someone came to shut it down, or it ran out of fuel?

Whenever I go to a friend's house in Salem or Beverly, I go by here and laugh. I'm going to try and get a photo tomorrow if anything transpires.

I just caught the 332 with that same load in Salem an hour or so ago. Engine was idling with some ambient lights on, I didn't see anyone around though. Might still be there, I wonder if it's being left overnight? You could tell it had recently made it's way back from Peabody due to the ruts in the s...

Actually, after crossing the bridge, the trolley went very briefly south on the the turnpike then went down Middle St. all the way to Gov. Dummer Jct. at the Academy. The line to Georgetown then turned up Elm St. and the line to Ipswich continued down Middle St. back to the Turnpike. Middle St. is ...

I live right near the Saugus Branch, last time I saw a train on it was around 1998 I believe, they used to pick up box cars in Linden Square and deliver plastic pellets (?) to Ace-Lon corp as well. The whole line is getting encroached upon VERY badly through Malden, you can't even walk the line anym...

As far as that pic, awesome. As far as that historicaerials site, incredibly awesome. I wish it were tied together better but hey, there's no real alternative to the site is there! I've been looking at Danvers State, Route 95, Route 1 and it's drive-in theaters, and my neighborhood in Malden. I show...

Yeah, they've been doing that a lot in the area lately...notably on the Saugus Branch..almost a nail in the coffin for these small branch lines, but I suppose they'd have to be redone anyway to be put back in service. I think with energy conservation on people's minds and transportation issues in th...

Today, the spur goes by the box company and then curves from the paved road to the north, and dies out somewhere in the dirt under the powerlines. I never really investigated how far it goes, if the rails are buried and go much further into the park or what. The park was where the ponds are today I ...

Interesting pictures-

If you look closely in the second photo, there almost appears to be a body covered in a blanket and a shoe closer to the photographer.
